Just as the title says's i have a question about SH3 Commmander. Having a hell of a time locating shipping even when putting my self in convoy routes. I do not recall have any problems before i installed SH3-Cdr. I have only been using SH3-Cdr since this week (new install). Has Cdr changed up the game playing making the convoy's harder to find?.....
Thanks Gent's

SH3 Commander does nothing to modify shipping routes/frequency. Perhaps you've just run into a spot of bad luck?
patience my friend...sit in convoy routes long enough and ur bound to find one. Or a new favorite hunting ground (using for the past week) sectors BE and BF, and bottom of AM...lots of single unescorted cargo's lurking there, includinga carrier (mentioned in a previous post) but this is in early to MId 1943 of course, but yes, patrol around convoy lanes enough and ur bound to find one. good luck.

As a rule of thumb I would suggest you do a hydrophone search every 5-10 hours, especially in bad weather conditions. There is a lot of traffic that goes by undetected if you´re all the time on the surface.

Thanks guys, must be bad luck! Time to make my own luck, like any good U-Boat Hauptmann should.
Thanks again

Hauptmann? Hah! Those land lubbers know nothing of how a U-boot works! We have kaleuns in the Ubootwaffe.
Anyways, simple mistake.

5-10 Hours? I guess that's a good enough compromise between playability and effectiveness.
To maximize the chance of catching something on hydrophones, you want to listen yourself from a dead stop, surface, run about 40km at high speed, submerge, rinse and repeat. That translates to a hydrophone check every 65 to 90 minutes. Ofc, that's not compatible with safety in an area with frequent allied air patrols. Also, it's very tedious.
My compromise is often to check every change of sea watch, and in areas of allied air coverage I'm only sprinting on the surface when I need to recharge my batteries.

That is correct. The whole idea is that it´s a game and I don´t really have so much time to play nowdays with work and stuff. Furthermore if you check every 5-10 hours it allows you to cover a fair amount of distance on the surface at optimal speed.

Try sitting 200clicks west of Gibraltar....theres a supply boat nearby to replenish from as well.
