:wah: I run Silent Hunter III GWXGold. Today I bought a new computer, an HP Touchsmart which unfortunately runs on Vista. I followed the instructions in the GWX 3 Manual re Vista but the game wont run. It will not proceed past the security bar.

When I tried to install GWXIII, the installation failed on the grounds that 'mods' were detected, yet it was a fresh install of SHIII patched to 14b

Its my favourite sim. I only bought this darned computer so GWX would work better on it. Can anyone out there help me ?

I really dont deserve this, sniff.

Vista can be a real pain. Perhaps you should try to install Xp if you can find all necessary drivers. I did so on my hp laptop and it works much better than with vista.

I recently purchased a new computer with Vista. Here are my suggestions
1) purchase a new copy of the game ($9.95). It comes Starfarce free, and is patched to 1.4b.
2) make a separate folder on your C drive and install ALL games there.
3) Install GWX3.0 GOLD
4) donate your old SHIII dvd to the local library.
5) consult Captain Morgan if you have any more problems.

Good Idea on Cpt Morgan. Worked for me.

I just recently installed SHIII/GWX 3 to a new Vista 32 machine without a hitch. I used a electronic SHIII (with 1.4 patch) from Direct2Drive.

Thanks to your assistance I managed to get back to sea !

As people turn from XP to Vista I suspect many more people will have problems with the system

Anyhow thanks for all the advice
