Was heading out of Kiel Aug 28th 1939 and enjoying my gramophone when suddenly my boat gets rocked with an explosion. My first officer screams that we have taken damage. I put the full weight of my repair crew onto the daunting task of damage control with flooding going on from the electric motors all the way up to the forward bunk station. Several of my crew was dead and even my turm and flak was damaged. I popped up onto the tower to see if we had run aground or hit some vessel but the area was clear. Tried to send off an sos to BDU but my radio and sonar stations were destroyed so I turned at flank speed to run aground in the exit channel. The only objects in my vicinity were the ominous looking coastal guns merely 2000 meters off my port bow. Were they the cause of all this carnage?
I waited but no shots came so I can only assume a saboteur on board my boat.
The answer may never be discovered as my boat sank out from beneath me and I had a brisk swim to shore.
Seriously what the........just happened?:nope:
any other Kaleuns had a boat suddenly and mysteriously blasted out beneath them in home waters before the war even started!?
