I play 1.4 stock and it happened to me. I sunk a lone large tanker and it failed show up in the log. I watched the whole sinking through the scope. A bug I guess.

One of many reasons I quit playing it.
And alot of hard work went into it by our excellent Modders. :salute:

Meh... even with mods (and version 1.5) this happens from time to time.

Real skippers got cheated too. They didn't quit. What they didn't know was that by not knowing what they were shooting at they were sometimes claiming 10 times as many tons sank as they really did. Lots of subs had tonnage majorly downgraded after the war. So I don't see that as a major shortcoming in the game, even if it is a bug.
Takes a lot more than that to ruin a game.
I got robbed by my own planes once. I was stalking a tanker, was about to go to periscope depth for the final attack, when I heard explosions on the surface. I rose the scope to find my tanker in flames, and a pair of B-24s heading off into the sunset!
Thanks alot guys:dead:

Just a guess, but I have a theory here. I remember this happening to me in a long ago version, maybe 1.2 or 1.3, but I had sunk a boat and saved the game. I continued the game the next day and upon cruising a little while, came upon the same type boat. I put it under, but did not get credit for it. I chalked it up to a "Respawning" error. Heck, who knows anymore. Everyone plays with so many different configurations now, it makes it very difficult to nail down bugs like this.

Those 'grey' ship sunk icons are dissapointing
Stuff happens for some reason the game considered the ship sunk 'by other means'.
