I am going with the Cardinals - mainly because they beat my Panthers! *Don't worry Panther fans - we won't have Jake "I throw high and behind" Delhomme forever.

My daughter reports that the entire township of Melbourne and Geelong (Victoria) will be tuning in to watch a local boy play.
Ben Graham, punter on the Cardinals, is the (supposed) first Australian to go to the Superbowl. Consequently, in that part of the world, where apparently the Australians are unable to beat even the Kiwi's at the moment :nope: they're looking for anybody to get a win.

I suppose I'll root for the Steelers because "Cardinals" is a horrible name for a football team, especially one from Arizona. I understand that the name has travelled with the franchise, but why not just rename to something that doesn't suck and maybe fits the state a little better, like the Arizona Phoenixes, or that would at least be alliterative, like the Arizona Apaches?
In any event, I doubt I'll enjoy the game too much because seeing the Steelers will remind me of my beloved Seahawks "defeat" in Superbowl XL, with all its' BS refereeing.:x :damn: :damn: :damn:

besides, gridiron is too stop-start for my liking. Only part of it i'd like to see incorporated is the cheergirls!

Hope the Cardinals do. But I know Pittsburgh's got a tough d line
I voted who cares cos I'm a Raiders fan but I think the Steelers may just hold the Cards out.

Daughter has been in Melbourne/Geelong all week, back home in Bne now.
I called some friends already, Illfracombe (Longreach) Cloncurry, Karratha. They're all watching.
Someone asked me why I didn't just drive from San Diego to the see the game. :har:

I read that the ex-cat was in the team for his kicking.. they couldn't have chosen a player from another sport much better than to choose an afl man!!

I WAS ROOTING FOR THE CARDINALS
BUT THEY WERE TRULY A WEAK, PATHETIC UNPROFESSIONAL TEAM TONIGHT!!!
they need to go and hide for the entire off season :stare:
my little league team could take them the way they are playing tonight- they are making WAY too many mistakes on the field.

very sloppy game. good game.... but very sloppy mostly on the part of the cardinals.
The cardinals got lucky on one TD which closed the gap but it was too little too late.
I don't doubt the cardinals are a skilled team which had a great season... but they failed to bring their "A-Game" to Tampa tonight.
The steelers were obviously the superior and dominant team in this game, they knew what they had to do, they knew what players to watch, and how to exploit the cardinals' weaknesses. The cardinals on the other hand seemed completely unprepared and unfocused.
The cardinals played a sloppy first half and made way too many costly mistakes in the opening exchange of blows.
how many holding calls do we have to see against the cardinals??? this is the super bowl... these are professional sports teams for crying out loud, these guys should have been more or less broken of that habit by the time they made their sophomore years in high school or at least college ball!!! You should not be surrendering that type of yardage in a game of this magnitude and importance.
i know there is a high desire to be aggressive but there is no excuse for that many penalty calls in the first half of play alone.
Kurt Warner was completely shut down by the Steelers defense from the very beginning.
Big Ben Roethlisberger and his team knew exactly what they came to tampa to do tonight and that was - TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL!
The cardinals... they just showed up for a football game.
its true that great players like Larry Fitzgerald step up to make big plays when it counts.
But great teams can usually ensure that such heroics arent required by clinching the win early.

@GoldenRivet
Say what?? Were we watching the same game?

What game were you watching? Arizona had the LEAD with under 3 minutes left in the game. Closed the gap?? It put them AHEAD! Too little and too late????????

They played much better than you would expect a 9-7 team to play. The game was a nailbiter for Steelers fans in the 2nd half.
Kurt Warner was completely shut down by the Steelers defense from the very beginning.
Warner's stats are 31\43 with 377 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.
Any fantasy football player would drool over those kind of offensive numbers.
If that was being shutdown just what do you consider a good day?
Big Ben Roethlisberger and his team knew exactly what they came to tampa to do tonight and that was - TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL!
Yes they did. Kudos to them.

yes we were watching the same game, and when playing against an offense like the steelers have - a 3 point lead is not much to go on :88)
my point is simply this...
the cardinals did not bring their "A-Game" to Tampa. throughout the first half of play they did not look like they belonged in the bowl period.
sorry - im a harsh critic and im difficult to please... but when you are in the super bowl there is no excuse to give up close to 50 or 60 yards on holding calls alone in one half.
no excuse whatsoever
