Being a cheapskate, I found this about doorbell transformers to be interesting http://www.newenglandbreeze.com/nl/TEM20080901.html Ack, see that this guy went to some Al Gore class of some sort. This idea is too reasonable for the green set, they'd only do it if they could replace it with a $500 natural bamboo ringer. lol

As a rule, I'm not against "green" policies unless they are an economic drain, but this suggestion is garbage.
The U.S. uses, on average, about 30,000 Terawatts per year in electricty. Not only is this crap ineffective, but it is a giant pain in the ass. Should the day ever come when doorbells are causing unacceptable energy costs, the market will provide a solution. Until then, to hell with it.

Is there something wrong with this picture? How much did he waste in paper and ink and staples to make the sign instead of getting off his lazy a55 and removing the damn doorbell and recycling it?:rotfl:
