okay, you will remember a while back that i was having issues with my PC because it would BSOD before any actual gameplay starts. well, after getting a 0x07f stop code, i started getting 0x08E stop codes. now after some research, i found this
STOP Error 0x0000008E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
STOP error 0x8E means that a kernel-mode application generated an exception that the error handler did not catch. STOP code 0x0000008E may also display "KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" on the same STOP message.
STOP Error 0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
STOP error 0x7F means that the Intel CPU generated a trap and the kernel failed to catch this trap. STOP code 0x0000007F may also display "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP" on the same STOP message.
again, we think its unmatched memory. however, i have my 1gb chip in until my pair of 512's get here (making a matching set of three 512 chips by the same manufacturer) i am now getting the 0x8E code when i play Steel Fury (a game i waited long and hard for, its depressing when it stops working) even though i have only one chip in, and its on all low settings.
now, my mother is saying, worst case scenario, its my motherboard...
anything spark something in your minds?
EDIT:
steel fury worked all fine and good last night, no crashes. I exited the game normally and i slept well
