What is the latest version of IL2?

I patched to 4.08m but when connecting through Hyperlobby I notice servers running 4.09b1m. I assume the b is a beta release...but is that a official patch release or some mod community creation? I am a bit confused as to what is used by the flight sim community.


Sorry for all the questions, it's just me and about 7-8 others decided to give IL2 a go for some multiplayer fun and none of us have any true experience with this game.

Updating IL-2 with all the updates/patches out there can be confusing as hell. This (http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2163129/STICKY_Newcomer_s_Guide_Updati.html#Post2163129) thread has managed to keep me pretty sane when I've reinstalled over the years.

It is an official patch, not a mod, but it hasn't been released yet, therefore it's a beta

Hehe... and SOW was to be released "in a few months" - in 2006 :lol:

It's also interesting how he said many things are impossible to do for IL2, ain't gonna happen, and lookie lookie there are plenty of mods adressing just those issues. More QMB maps is one thigs I remember, and APIT-rounds in .50 cal and 12.7 mm belts another. Then there's the AI...

Yea well I think Oleg is maybe trying to perfect something that can't be perfected. Sob is what 3 years late. I'm willing to bet it will be cancelled or released but buggy....Just a feeling I have.

AS for all the stuff he said that couldn't be done. He might as well release dev tools to the modding people. He has nothing to lose.

Thanks! I got the Unified mod going and it is working sweet! Now if only I was a great pilot to match... :hmmm:
