Gar Class. Deck gun?

I thought the deck gun on the Gar class boat was behind the conning tower. I selected the Gar today and the gun is mounted up front. What gives??

I noticed the same thing. The artwork in the weapons screen even shows the gun stern-mounted. But for some reason the default position is bow-mounted. I suppose when you accumulate enough renown you can get a new, heavier gun mounted wherever you please.

AFAIK all gar class boats have rear deck guns so something must be wrong with the equipt layout in the game.

All fleet boats from the Porpoise on had two deck gun mounts, one forward of the conning tower and one aft. Either one was capable of handling guns up to a 5"/51 cal. During the war, there was no hard and fast rule as to where the gun was mounted and it was usually left up to the preferences of the Commanding Officer. Towards the end of the war, it was not unusual to see boats carrying two deck guns, as shipping worth a torpedo became increasingly rare. The as-built configuration for the Tambor/Gar was gun aft.

i couldnt find any real life pictures showing the gun mounted forward so i guess they did it in the game for some reason but i cant imagine why. :hmm: i guess they just wanted to offer something different.
