Cant have Hunter having all the fun, so starting my own AAR. :p

Tho, this time, it wont be an Grand Campaign, but a part of it. Starting from the allied paradrops on the morning of D-Day and ending when the time runs out or my unit get's wiped out.

As the title says, I'll be reporting only the II/6FJ's battles, defending the city of Carentan. I wont be moving from the city, unless I get surrounded on the strategic map (which shouldnt take long after the allied armor moves inland).

First battle sometime tonight.

As I only need to write reports of one unit, I though to make it more in-depth. Promotions, medals, losses etc. will be recorded and all the men will have names and ranks.

This post will be updated with only the numbers of casualties and roster changes. Names of the KIAs, promotions, medals etc. will be placed to the combat report.

Shuuut it! I already started it, tho, I'm gonna start it again, because I realised I can disband all the units except for the II/6FJ. There's a supply point next sector to the south of Carentan and only way to get there is by capturing Carentan, which I wont let happen. :p

6/6/1944 1400hrs

Reports came in few hours ago saying we are to except an attack from the 501./101 Paratroopers soon. Our scouts reported that the catedral was in enemy control. Righto, let's surround the bastards. ;)

Groups Abzug, Behlendorf and Hufnagel with our sniper had the responsibility to secure the area to the west of the enemy.

Groups Hoffmann, Mann and Eismann took the east. Rest secured the center of the city.

The attack started by the enemy trying to break through in two points along the defense line at the city center. Both attempts were met with fierce small arms fire with few rounds from mortar backing them up.

The second try from the enemy came slightly to the west, MG42 Gruppe Verl and Command Gruppe Fehn halted it with accurate small arms fire.

The east sector saw some action aswell, with the enemy trying to seize the factory. Again, they were ambushed and the attack was an failure.

Gruppe Eismann, which suffered horrible casualties later in the battle, stopped this enemy attack with few bursts of fire and some grenades.

MG42 Gruppe Mann, positioned to the 3-story building, was responsible for taking the next wave of allied infantry out.

Gruppe Hoffmann and Eismann were tasked to counter-attack the catedral after the situation calmed down. A big big big mistake from my part.

Both Gruppe Hoffmann and Eismann were ambushed on the yard of the catedral. The smokescreen had little effect; From the 12 assaulters, only one survived. Jäger Sterf from Hoffmann's Gruppe managed to get back to the other side of the road.

Order was given to anyone who had a line of fire to the catedral, to open up. Three rifle grenades struck the position of the enemy, killing everyone in it.

The west sector still hadnt seen any action, so the command was passed out for them to prepare an counter-attack to the city hall. Gruppe Abzug and Behlendorf got the job.

After a fierce fight, the city hall was secured and an enemy mortar team was spotted and eliminated to the NE of the city hall. Both groups suffered some casualties, but overall it was a successfull attack. Gruppe Abzug and Behlendorf took positions on the east wall of the building.

Now, there was only one thing to do: Assault the catedral and flush the enemy out. All able groups moved to the buildings surrounding the catedral and waited the order.

Smoke pops out to signal to start the attack. Gruppe Rechner and Topel assault from south, while Gruppe Shüler comes from the east. The last defenders are eliminated quickly and the victory is ours.
