I have completed three objectives my first agent insertion, recon of the Yaizu harbor and a four day patrol 108 NM SE of the Bungo Suido. In fact the order given by HQ told me to avoid Bungo Suido. Which I did.

So what is my next objective, yup HQ needs a recon of Hiroshima harbor. Didn't HQ just tell me to avoid Bungo Suido now they wanted me to nagivate through it and negoiate all that shallow water right up to the Hiroshima harbor. I was half tempted to disobey the order but one must follow their orders no matter how insanely suicidal it may seem. I knew the game wanted me dead. I must have pissed off someone in HQ.

I almost pulled it off. I manage to get my ship 15 NM away from the harbor. I traveled mostly at night at full speed and would submerge 50 ft anytime any I had a visual contact with a merchant or warship.

It was almost daylight I figured I needed to plan my escape route for next night. So I parked my sub at the deepest spot I could find about 15 NM from the harbor and stay there without moving for most of the day. It was about 16:00 hrs and I wanted to surface to realease excess CO2. I checked my hydrophone no contacts, I peered out the scope no visual sightings. So I surfaced for less than 1 minute to clean the air. I should have waited to darkness.

As soon as I completed my dive back down 150 ft I heard those infamous words CONTACT WARSHIP CLOSING. It was then I knew I was going to die. I was trapped within a 2 nm miles oasis of 150 ft water surrounded by 50 ft shallow water. Damn destroyer came straight for me banging his active sonar too. I had no room to manuever. It didn't long for him to make short work of me.

It wasnt half bad carreer, six ships with about 50K worth of tonnage. I was surpised I thought I would experience more duds torpedos than I did at 100% realism. My two previous patrols most torps found thier target. It was only on the thrid and last patrol where most of my torpedos detonated early. Guess that should have clued me in that my days were numbered.

Anyone else have the recon Hiroshima harbor mission and pull it off?

Nope never got a mission like that. But got a mission to land a commando raid in that area. Lots of little friends there.:yep:

Yup, 2 days ago. Reconed the harbour and as I was pulling out on the surface around that deep section I spotted a large dark blur on the horizon. Got closer and it was a carrier! Fired one eel into her and she capsized. Then behind her was a battleship! Fired 5 eels into her before she rolled over and died. then came out the same way I went in full speed deck gunning several large freighters. Then at the exit to the pacific I got nailed by a shore gun I missed the night before going in. All hands lost:damn:

As far as COMSUBPAC was concerned (and Nimitz himself) that was a more than fair exchange. ONE SUB = 1 CV & 1 BB.

They would name streets, town and ball parks after you.

I did it once.

There are quite a few back-alleys where you can happily cruise around, even surfaced in broad daylight.

The funny thing is that when I entered the first bay, I deck-gun sank a merchant there and nobody seem to have cared in IJN. Then I entered the bay itself at night, and didn't have a single sound contact. It was way too suspicious, not a single patrol could be heard. I scoped around and saw two stationary destroyers against the stars. One was 1000yards to starboard, one 1000yards to port. I sent a fist right into one of them, hit it, sunk it.

The other was painfully oblivious. Not even searchlights were lit. I sent that one to the bottom too.

Then I reconed the harbor without any kind of hiderance, sunk two tankers there and ploted a course to the narrow alley to the west behind that big island.

Sunk a Fuso BB as I sailed past the neighboring harbor, got safely to the next bay (I was surfaced the whole time while I was in that narrow passage, in broad daylight), from there it was child's play. I just sticked to the shores while submerged (not close enough to hit the bottom though) and after a day of careful silent running, I was out in the ocean, sailing towards Pearl.

Never had a mission like that. But I did have to recon Hiroshima bay sunk 1 carrier 1 BB 2 destroyers and 5 or 6 freighters. And with a little luck made it out alive.

You guys are making me feel like a horrible skipper not only are you surviving the trip to hiroshima, but sinking stuff for good measure. It seemed the game had some Destroyer just appear out of nowhere everytime I made myself visable.

Well, dont be too hard on your self, m8.

I got a big can of ass-whopping from an armed Junk :o . (Think it was a Junk, at least one of those tiny boats with sails)

Was cruising with timecompression when I was suddenly under attack. Went up on the bridge and spotted the Junk... ""A JUNK???" Well, anyway, manned the deckgun in order to sink it. Figured the crew could use some practise so I didnīt shoot myself. After a few mins, the idiots (my crew) hadnīt hit anything when the Junk somehow managed to get a good hit at the back of the boat. Blowed off my rudder! What are the odds???

They survived and I couldnīt steer home. Had to abandon that mission :damn:

If you run RSRDC you'll very rarely get such suicide missions...

I'm sure that now that I have RSRDC installed, I wouldn't be so lucky if I got this mission again.
