On the news today, for a reason still unknown 2 Mirage F-1 jets collided.
MADRID, Spain – Two Spanish Mirage F-1 warplanes crashed during a training mission Tuesday, killing all three crew members on board, the Defense Ministry said.

Ouch. :-? 4 Mirages down in 5 years? I think they should start looking for a new plane. :hmm: Not at all. Operating single engine fast jets is risky, there is no way around that. I count 8 USAF F-16s lost from 3/2007-3/2008. Not one of them to enemy fire, I believe.
It's a dangerous business, and such things unfortunately happen.

Midair collisions tend to bring down most planes, so you can forget about a small high-performance (or used to be) surviving. Pilot error?
