Oh my...
So, to save the fish you dress them in costumes and expect people to love them like kittens?
I like to call that "Lucas-ing" (I.E. existing product, slap Star Wars stuff on it, profit), but with kittens instead of, well, you get the idea...
mmmm that was good sea kitten and chips. :)

They may be on to something here, though. Ever since brine shrimp were renamed Sea Monkeys very few people have eaten them.

PETA and all other animal right's groups don't seem to understand that us humans are obviously omnivorous, and it makes no sense to be vegetarian. They also have an unnerving ability to disregard the fact that even the most bloody of slaughters are comparatively mild to lions eating a gazelle live.
This thread made me hungry. I'm feeding the family on sea kittens tonight! Here kitty...kitty...kitty...
Oh and in case you think PETA is a nice harmless organisation of do gooders: http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2009/01/13/43685_opinion.html

Might even slip a few morsels to the cat, just to really mess with this thesis.

A lot of nature conservation and protection is based on people emphatizing with the protected species. Fish are scaly, slimy. They are not 'cute'. Does this make them less valuable?
Also, when talking with people who have sailed the oceans for decades they will tell you that today the oceans are dead. Huge parts of the Pacific ocean are covered with all kinds of trash. Overfishing, pollution, you name it. So I don't think protection of the seas is a joke, although PETA-folks might be easy to bash.

Overfishing and industrial farming are huge concerns in the modern world. You act like PETA is honestly caring about the consequences of killing animals. They aren't. PETA supports vegetarianism, which is a load of crock. Logically speaking, if we could cut down the world population and manage our food industry better, eating meat (even beef) could be fine. But all PETA cares about is not killing animals, which is absurd. Have you seen their pamphlets for children? Mindless scare tactics, and this sea kitten woobie nonsense shows that all they could care less about the repercussions.

Seriously, what the hell.
Stop eating that fish. It doesn't make any sense to talk about it here, since I'm guessing everyone can't afford a freaking $10,000 fish on their table. Whatever.
Idiots in Hong Kong and China and Japan, the US, and all other countries where it's apparently cool to throw away both money and vital species in a flurry of absolute stupidity, excess, and snobbery. Stuff like caviar, which creates more havoc on population than just overfishing, to sharks, which keep the entire eco-system from from overpopulating and starving itself. Does anyone know what a real coral reef looks like? There should be more predator than prey. With all those herbivores in the most famouse reefs, their waste will suffocate the coral and kill everything. Yet we unashamedly fish valuable predators like the tune and the shark for their tiny strips of meat and their dorsal fin. :nope:

I used to have a lure that looked like a mouse, I used it for pike fishing. Didn't catch anything with it, except the bottom. It got caught in the bottom, like quite a few of my lures. :-?
I think people should catch more fish themselves and buy less from the stores.
Tuna and many other species might very well be extinct in the near future.

if they want to protest the eating of fish fine, but when they start trying to use our children...that's where I draw the line
here's what they're feeding our kids...and It ain't animals!!
like here: http://www.petakids.com/
and I quote from the kids section:
"The Health Benefits of a Vegan Diet Eating animals is bad for human health (http://www.petakids.com/food_faq.html). Many diseases and conditions, including heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes, and obesity, have been directly linked to diets that include animals and animal products. Click here (http://www.petakids.com/health.html)for more information."
even better:

*this was found in the "for educators" section under "6-12 grades"
of better yet lets send our kids out on "missions"

or let them Graffiti all over the place!!!

If you look past the fact that you are eating a formerly "cute" animal, cat meat is a viable food source, much like bunny rabbits. It's not that hard to do when you eat lamb, is it?

IIRC bunny rabbits are not good as an exclusive protien source as they are missing some viutal ingredient. I'll try and find what it is if there's an argument.
Now where did that LOLfish thread get too?
