View Full Version : A suggestion about Hull integrity
I play 100% realsim with GWX2.1, so I feel it isn't right that the HI are available in such acurate numbers. So I always turn it off, (using SH3 commander).
But sometimes you do want to have a ball park idea about how badly you are damaged after an attack. So this is my suggestion on how it should work.
1. You must be on the surface.
2. You can ask your WO to do a Hull check
3. The hull check will tell you if you boat is:
Undamaged: 100%
Minor = HI > 85
Moderate = 85 < HI < 40
Sevear = HI < 40
That way, I can make decisions as to whether to abort a patrol, or whether to attack convoys. (which will require diving deep later).
Like to here what you guys out there might think about this.

Is this possible? I'd love to have a compromise between our current options. (Going blind or having a damage meter)
Maybe you could also have the Chief Engineer do the same, but with far less accuracy? (Say 25% compared to the WO assessment) Kind of like a hasty inspection of the damage to the inner hull in order to decide whether a dive to 100 meters will kill you.

Great idea... I have had more than one argument that while seeing a hull integrity % number isnt realistic, not being able to inspect your hull and assess damage isnt either.
Good compromise.
Good idea. Maybe it would be possible to implement it. :D
Having an exact percentage is way too much information, but not having a clue about your hull status (except for shattered glass on dials) is just as bad.

Bdu have noted your collective concerns....therefore all new construction as of now will have a vital upgrade option. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/scream.gif

Could this be a GWX 3.0 upgrade........:hmm:

O, wise genie, where can I get this magic fix? Which file is it? is it compatible with GWX3.0?

I'm afraid no such upgrade/file exists at the present. No definitive decision has yet been made as to any future upgrades for GWX3.0.
I'd place it in the 'unlikely column' due to the fact work is ongoing with GWX4.

I could be wrong about this, lord knows thats happened maybe once or twice, but i think that the LRT mod addresses this issue with the hull% somewhat. I know its exactly what you guys are talking about, but it is a decent compromise.:yep:

What is this LRT Mod? Is there some way that I can get hull integrity displayed when using GWX3? I've been unable to get SH3 commander running, so am having to resort to tweaking GWX3 files.
I agree that having absolutely no idea as to how your hull is shaping up is worse than having a % figure.
