View Full Version : SubSim Aviators' Racing Challenge
Whaaat is this??
A bunch of courses where you will try to get the best time in SubSim, fame and glory and all that crap, yaay.
How it works?
I, Dowly, the master of Universe, will tell you the course and provide link to it if needed. You are allowed to modify the mission only by changing your plane.
For timing, I suggest recording an track, starting from when you go past the starting point of the course in question, that way it's easy to check the time from the track.
Also, if you want your time to be added to the first post you must take an screenshot of your plane crossing the finish line. Ow and tell us the plane you used.
Only the top 3 will be added to the first post, the best time of the pilot counts.
Current course (DeadlineSunday the 25th)
I16 Cup Dinoco, Normal
Download the modified mission file and extract it to the mission folders in your IL2 1946 folder.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wygnn0qnwnz
As in the "Tuberun", you can pick any plane you want.

We did some of those courses online with a couple of JG53 blokes a few months back, and it was hell of a fun
At first the most certain strategy to win was to survive, since you could count on everyone crashing at some point. Then people started to improve, and we actually managed to do some racing on the courses.

Could be, Val was hosting so I don't really know where he got them. The basic idea was the same as above. Funny maps

Yup, that's the IL2 cup race map pack. The for good pilots thing is a training campaign with different situations to test your piloting skills, out of fuel landings to carries, landing to very tight spaces etc. etc.

Sorry.... just couldn't resist this one!
BF109G2 through the course in 55 seconds!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t211/JG53_Valantine/55seconds.jpg
Just don;t ask me how many times it took JUST to get through - let alone with a half decent time! That track certainly wasnt built with a 109 in mind! Nor was it built for a machine that stutters with too many ground objects! Damn Vista! :damn:

Hmmm, Im using vista, no shuttering at all.:yep: Havent gotten to that mission yet.
Good job, Val! Heck, you should be announced as the winner just because you took the 109G thru the course. :yep:
:o
Christ, I tried it with a Spit and kept slamming into the corners. Great job Val!
Now I guess that just leaves the 262  :hmm:

or a bomber if the course is wide enough ;)
or a bomber if the course is wide enough ;)
Dont think the roll-rate of a bomber would be enough for the last S-curve.

Looking at the track, I had some lucky charms hidden somewhere in the plane. Especially the last S-curve was more luck than skill. :p
Ow, nice to see you taking part to our thingies, Val.

OK I'll fly tonight on that course.
What about the I-16 cup courses?
Valantine
01-16-09, 08:32 AM
Well I can't resist such a silly task!
I gave the B17 a fair few runs around but never made it through - S-curve drilled me into the walls every time, well except one where I thought I almost had it but actually was skidding along the floor before BOOM!
262 was the same story, BUT the Yak-15 on extremely low power through the curve got through in 50 seconds! (after many tries stalling as I exited onto the final stretch!)

What about the I-16 cup courses?
I pick one of the courses for Monday when the course changes.
Vid of the Zero run, EGO BOOOST! :yep:

If I understand right ,your useing IL2.
If so can I use IL2 1946
The reason I ask is I gave away all my IL2 collection as I thought IL2 1946 was all that and more.
Valantine
01-16-09, 12:48 PM
It is indeed IL2 1946, most people here use some form of mod pack ontop of that but il le tone of the regulars fill you in

When I first went through I thought I was supposed to loop round and go back the other way.
I used the J-8a as it can go really slow in turns. Also I have linked my mouse wheel to the flasps so I have more control over them.
Le time is up for the "tuberun".
New course will be available tomorrow.
Also, somekind of nifty badges/awards will be made available to those who made it to the top three of the 'tuberun'.
More later or tomorrow.
