two wonderings to enquire about from your knowledgeable selves.

When I am coming out of Kiel, prior to turning to port to head for the bridge, I can see a soaring edifice in the distance to the right, and a bit before it another place is lit up at night. I winged my way over there last trip and saw that the lit up place appeared to be some sort of formal garden, and the soaring edifice perhaps a memorial, perhaps to the first world war. I felt these must be real-life buildings and would like to know what they are and if they are still in existence today....

Later, having done my patrol, I decided to go round the top of the UK, past Lerwick, to see what I could find. I have done this before in GWX2 and not noticed anything unusual, even when sniffing around close to Lerwick itself, but tonight, in GWX3, having submerged and put me ears on, I can hear what sounds like birdsong coming from the direction of the base at Lerwick. I am consumed with curiosity to see what is making these strange sounds, but fear it will be a bit like 'come into my parlour, said the spider to the fly' and I will get caught and killed if i wander in too far. What say you?

I believe it's a 3-D recreation of the U-Boat memorial at Moltenort, which was built in 1930 and still exists.

Whales! Or dolphins. GWX adds them and you can sometimes hear them on the hydrophones. See page 155 of the GWX manual.

Oh yes you can see them :yep:

Very cool to come across. I use Sh3gen for intelligence gathering purposes, the whales/dolphins are plotted as icebergs. Nice to go by if they are on the way to my patrol area.

I went chasing those dolphins a number of times, without any luck. Until I saw them where I least expected them - just outside of Bergen harbor. :D

piri reis, wonderful. I shall hope to see them one day then.
Contact, I do have the manual, and I have used it, but there is SO much there; I can't take it all in, so I 'dip'. I shall have a look and see what I can find :)

What I did was peek through the manual bits at a time, and I just skimmed through to the parts that look interesting. (Hydrophone/sonar operation, crew management, running decks awashed, etc) You learn some fun facts and still have time to play. ;)

Pablo has created a work of art which is without a doubt the greatest game manual ever written. I had the privilege of reading the various revisions and helping in a very small way. It really is worth reading and re-reading.

I finished refueling at a milch cow in the early morn as the sun came up and as I pulled away some dolphins were just ahead of me going the same way for awhile.

It was kinda sad when they were gone.

These kind of great surprises are why I'm hooked on GWX. :yep: :D
