Well what the heck did she expect? You put yourself in the public and people are going to work their ass off to find dirt on you. Its simply how things work these days.

But then again, what did everyone else expect? That she'd just shut-up and not respond to the garbage criticisms and speculations her and her family were subject to?

People seem to always be forgetting that freedom of speech has two sides.

Sure, someone is free to say unfounded, gutteral things about a public figure. Likewise, that public figure is free to call those people the lowlifes that they are.

Kapitan Phillips is spot on except I think 'this is how things have worked' since the Roman Senate. She would have been better off to just 'smile and let it go...' regarding the slanders. Besides she threw herself into the fire enough times as it was.

I have little patience with celebrities or politicians who can't stand the heat. I would tell them, "I will snap my finger and you will never be bothered by the press or fans or scandal ever again" SNAP! "Congratulations, you are now officially a nobody again!"

I wonder how many would take me up on it????;)

I know that weak people like to snipe away at persons of celebrity with this insane idea that they should be immune from return fire, but that's not how the world works.

The person under attack shouldn't "shut up" just because they happen to be in the public view. Frankly, I find that very idea to be perpetuated by the idiots who attack and smear the person in the first place. These morons make absurd claims about someone, that person rebutts them, then those SAME people FAULT them for their rebuttal.

Apparently they are knowingly too far from reality to actually back up what they said in the first place, so they have to grasp at the straw that their "victim" won't, and shouldn't, fire back.

Silly.

Silly it may be, but for a 'public figure' staying above the fray will always come off better than letting the lowlifes get to you. Never let them see you sweat....remember? If you want to run for public office, especially national office, you had better have thicker skin than the armor belt of the USS New Jersey.

Honestly, I could care less about Palin's personal life. Just as I could care less about the personal lives of BradPittAngelinaJolieJenniferLopezRobertDowneyJrJe nniferAnniston..............etc.

But they all knew the game when they stepped onto the field.

I have no problem with that and don't see how anyone else could...

I have said that about every politician since the Carter administration. I will (sometimes grudgingly) admit that some of them did better than I expected them to.

Well, I went back and watched the interview again to see if maybe I misunderstood it. You are right, she is answering questions, but again why get upset(and she was getting upset)about something you KNEW was going to happen. People say nasty untrue things about us all, probably everyday, since grade school. You can let it get to you or you can let it go. My point, again, is when they asked her to be on the ticket, she had to know what lay down the road. She had a choice. All she had to do was say 'No, thanks.'

I guess I wish she had just said, to any of the questions, "You know, I am secure in who I am and am proud of my family and those people can just believe what they want."

So, now can we go back and talk about my mother's alien love child????

...especially when a lot of the crap was perpetuated by an element which is supposed to be professional and respectable (the media).

I find it funny how bigotry based upon ideas presents itself so obviously in those who wish to present themselves as "tolerant".

Alas, fooling oneself has finally become an art...
