Well after numerous patrols all starting in different years, and on my 2nd GWX 3.0 patrol I finally sight HMS Hood. I couldn't quite believe it! It was as I was submerged that my hydrophone operator picked up a small convoy of warships, so I decided to plot an intercept and see what I could see. This is when things didn't go my way:damn: Firstly it was abysmal weather - heavy seas, heavy cloud and less than 9km visibility, and secondly thorough hydrophone soundings, I (roughly) worked out the convoys speed and rough heading, which turned out to be around 25knts heading AWAY from me.
So in this poor weather I didn't have much chance of catching up to get into a decent firing position, and all i saw of the Hood was a silhouette of it on the horizon almost mocking me.:nope:

Someday, I WILL sink the Hood...............

I had pretty similar problems in my first 3.0 patrol. Got a report on the Hood and got it on the hydrophones, but horrible weather kept me from ever getting into an attack position.

I personaly sunk the Royal Oak several times inside of Scapa Flow, and the H.M.S. Nelson one time, and it was a great feeling! :smug:

I feel kind of guilty. In my current career I've sank:

the HMS Rodney off the coast of Spain,
a Southampton class light cruiser that was escorting a convoy coming westbound out of the Canal
I'm working on another Nelson class in the Ofotfjord at the Battle of Narvik. I've crippled her and she's only making 5 knots. I'm waiting for dark to surface and get in position for the coup de grace.
All about being in the right place at the right time, i suppose.

My favourite is the Warspite when around the Narvik area.

Yes, seven thousand and seven(maybe five ?) hundred meters.
But I made a mistake 'cause I fired 3 T1 and...1 T2 who can't go so far away !
That explain why only 3 impacts.

It was a very great moment of my subsimer live and all is related here:
