Wow that was way cool!

I could only find one thing that would worry me if I had one; the placement of the wing struts and the propeller. If the propeller would come loose for some reason during the flight and would launch itself to either side, it would take the strut with it, possibly collapsing the whole wing. :hmm:

Hmm. Tempting. Price tag is obtainable as well without too much pain. Then again, you can buy something used for half the cost and deck it out yourself.

Its cool though for its amphibious abilities.

A more likely scenario is a broken prop, but that almost always ends in catastrophic failure as it shakes the whole aircraft structure apart, or at least the engine mounts, which always leads to something worse.

Cool!

Though, I suspect you can get an amphib cheaper. Searey, perhaps? But that is one sexy lookin' machine....

Chicken wire = safety wire

Nope, never worked on a prop in my life. But I've seen few pictures of what an loose/broken prop can do. :D

1. It can take off from land or water.

2. It's trailerable.

3. Wings fold for storage. No hanger fees.

4. Easy to fly.

That's a nice package for the price.

Damned skippy!

If they play their cards right, vehicles like this could result in a boom in aviation interest. Wouldn't it be awesome if sport licenses were common for planes like these?

Who knows, maybe one day you'll go camping and will shell out $150 for a couple hours in one of these babies...

Well, they've said that about almost every new aviation technology that has ever arrived on the scene. VLJ's, Amphibs, Rudderless aircraft, etc, etc.

Sport licenses are common for planes like these. It's the sports license that produced an increase in production in aircraft like this. Along with the new cubs, etc...

Based on the current prices for renting aircraft that cost more and eat more fuel and oil than these lil' critters, $100 an hour is not at all unreasonable to rent such an aircraft. However, insurance is a whole other story.

Keep in mind, this is not ground breaking technology. It's a new(ish) slant on a time tested idea. Think Searey, as a good example of a tried an tested predecessor...

There are many variations of these light/sport amphibs. The Searey just happens to have been the aircraft I've wanted to build to own ever since I got my pilots license. Ahh, one day...:yep:

There's big money behind him and his outfit.

As far as homebuilt goes. I've seen the spice racks and birdhouses people have built.

I wouldn't fly a paper plane they folded. :yep:
