The RNC Debate: Too Hot For C-Span?

By Eric Kleefeld (http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/blogs/kleefeld) - January 7, 2009, 1:02PM
The candidates for Republican National Committee chair have been talking about how to effectively campaign in the era of YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. But it looks like they're having problems with technology that first became widespread back when Eisenhower was president.
A C-Span staffer has informed us that the RNC voted to close today's meeting, which is being held as a forum for the leadership candidates, and eject the cameramen and press so it won't be carried on TV or elsewhere.
The Republican National Committee members obviously want to hear some Frank discussion of the issues and the state of their party -- so much that they don't want the public hearing what's said.

Hehe...so sad, August. So sad. :lol:This isn't anything unusual - for any party.

A lot of politics are done behind closed doors. A big reason for it is to avoid making blurbs for an opponents campaign ads. You ever wonder why politicians almost NEVER say that they are wrong? Because, if they do, next election cycle the statement will be repeated ad nauseum by any opponent.

Unfortunately, what that leaves is for the real frank business of politics to be forced behind closed doors.

The Republicans got demolished during the last elections. They have to do some self-examining ... and doing so for a future Barney Frank campaign ad would be silly.

Question for you, Enigma: did you post a similar thread when the DNC met behind closed doors last May?

No. But alas, you have missed the point......:yep:What point is that? So far you've pretty much only quoted someone else ... who's point I get but isn't really relevent.

Let me guess. C-Span has a liberal lean too, right? :rotfl:

I highly doubt it. C-span has done more to make politics boring than repubs could have dreamed of.
