I play alot of the ATC sim found at ATC-sim.com. It's free to play, as long as you don't mind being limited to a few airports. I made a small donation, thus am able to play hundreds of airports.

I've purchased some ATC sims before. None of which lasted. This one has stood the test of time for me, which is amazing given the price, and the lack of sophistication. It's just damn fun. Plus, it's browser based, so wherever I happen to be in the world, I can fire up a PC or lap top (even at work, hehe..) and play.

Any of you know of any other browser based games?

This :

Tower Simulator

Unfortunately, it isn't browser based. But it's fun especially when you try some of the hectic airports.

I do my own version of ATCing, not so stressful
Not browser based, and the first site is rather pricey, but the second is free:

Wow, thanks for posting Tachyon. I hadn't heard of Tower Sim. That looks awesome...

Yeah it is, you even get penalized for violations. Try the german airport (forgot the name), it has like 10 flights taking off all at once and 3 coming in for landing :S

If you're interested in ATC you should really check out VATSIM (http://vatsim.net/). It's free, they will train you, you can control virtually anywhere in the world you'd like, and the pilots are real people. The only downside is that traffic is sometimes lacking, and you can only get a tower view if you own FS9.

Thanks,

Member, pilot, literally hundreds of hours on VATSIM

Haven't done it for a long time though. I don't have nearly enough time for it anymore....

Wow this is damn hard. Do you have to line up the plane exactly with the runway you want it to land on or is there some tolerance?

Lots of tolerance. The aircraft just needs to be facing the general direction of the runway, at a certain altitude, in order to intercept the "beam". You clear them to land, and they do the rest themselves. I imagine a more thorough review of the game instructions will help you....
