2nd patrol, Just as I cleared the English Kanal war was declared against Germany. Finally I get to shoot at something! Almost to my patrol grid BF19. Once I arive I do my standard 24 hour patrol then strart doing sweep patterns to the north.
The weather at this point is deteriorating rapidly. By sunset it is pouring rain and the seas are heavier than I have seen in a while. Visability is reduced to almost zero in the pitch black. As I am looking around at the horrible weather my eye gleems something odd off to port. Binocs zero in but in this weather it takes my eyes a few moments to find the sillouete . The crew spots the merchant as well at this point. I slide the UZO around but cannot make out what kind of vessal this is. so I turn my nose 90 degrees to port and command all stop.
As she sails to roughly 200 meters I can barely make out her flag. She's English!
I finally identify her as a medium transport 6,500 tons. I make the calculations as quickly as I can and fire off two eels in her direction. Standing on the tower soaking from the rain I see the first one impact, Its a hit! Right in the nose.
My second fails so I quickly fire off two more. Both missed. I order flank speed and swing my boat parallel and then menouver my tail into a good stinging position.
All stop! 300 Yards damn I drifted too far and can barely make her out. I hastilly begin redoing my calculations Just as I am about to slam the firing button She explodes and starts sinking immediatly. I can only watch in amazment as this lone source of light burns brightly in the darkness with its orange reflections on the water. Really reminded me of Das Boot at this point. She goes down quickly though and as I pull away in the darkness I scan the area with my binoculars and watch her tail sink below the waves. Just as I am about to look away I see amongst all the debris a surviver! Going up and down on the waives I can see his black outline waiving desperately in my direction. First he goes up and I can see him then his raft goes down and he is lost only to be thrust of again on the huge waves.
Poor English man there is no way to save him and in this weather that dingy little raft wont survive long. So I pull away:nope:
I love this sim for its sheer realism!
