Mods for GWX Gold

Hi all
i am new to the forum and have been just reading all the posts and have decided to get involved
with the forum and try and contribute something back in ideas of hopefully some mods that i would like to do,i hace picked up a different rig for SH3 which i a 2.66ghz with 2 gig of ram and
a nvidia geforce 6200 vid card so if possible could some of you guys give me advice on the following points.
SH3 i have installed GWX GOLD,what other mods should i install ( i really like some eye candy)
but really want it to look and feel right and not put to much pressure on the computer?
I want to install SHCommander on two installs but not have them interact in any way with each other?
SH4 Can my rig run it and also the mods ?

Everything looks ok but the vid card . You'll be able to play but, slow.

I don't know about SH4 tho. The card again.

If your running an AGP card, to upgrade to max can get pricey.

Thanks for the reply,so you thing that the card is the problem for SH3 and SH4 but otherwise the rig is ok,but you are right that vid card can be pricey,maybe better to save some cash for gamind rig (work overtime :damn:) what would you recommend ?,all advice would be welcome,i am in Ireland

I've just got rid of a 6200 because it couldn't cope with SH4 so I wouldn't recommend it. I got 5 to 7 fps with nothing on the screen except my sub so it's unplayable, and my rig is slightly better than yours (P4 3GHz, 3GB RAM).

SH3 Gold runs fine on the 6200 but it can get a bit laggy, especially if using any of the damage eye-candy mods so I'd stay away from those.

I got a great card from Maplin at a decent price ten days ago. I take it you're in the Republic.

Not long ago I 'upgraded' from a 128MB ATI card to a 256MB 6200. It was no better, and worse in some areas. This is not to compare or to knock either company - just my limited experience with those particular cards.

Okay, I hate you now. I can't afford that much for a computer, let alone a video card.

My computer's video card slot is AGP, so until I can upgrade to a new machine I'm stuck with what I've got.

Yes, wreford i am in the south but have a good maplins local so will go there.but it seems like i need to sit down and decide on a new computer, i think some sort of rig that suits SH3 AND SH4 and maybe a bit left over for SH5 should one come out so i will cut back on the eye candy abnd enjoy the campaign within the limits of the computer ?

you can still get a 7600gs card for agp and it ran sh3 for me fine in most cases. when all hell broke loose with AI stuff everywhere it was slow but caught up in a few seconds so it wasnt bad. you can pick one up for about $90 last time i looked.

I have a Radeon™ X1650 Series Graphic Card installed and have had no Problems with it running both SH3 & SH4(including the ADD-ON SH4 Uboat Missions)

I run a 7900 GS PCI-X: I can play both SH III (GWX 3) and SH IV without major hickups. If you can find one: it is good value and shouldn't set you back too much....

No major mods installed in GWX so far; I do do have a skin from Steed installed (VIIc1942 it is gorgeous) and the lifeboats and debris mod......

I will gave the 16 km atmospere mod a look one of these days; it gets rave reviews!
