total career not possible?

i've started a career in 1941 (several times ) but i seem to not get past end 1942-begin 1943 in my campain .
i have 2 problems .
1-after a while i c'ant load the game when i saved in action (on patrol)
2-or when i return to brisbane harbor (begin '43 , i was relocated without asking for a transfer ) i have to retire (beeing the ace and killed considerely on the last patrol) my question is it not possible to play a total career ore am i doing something rong ?)

Are you completing the missions? A player can sink vessels all day but the game recognizes completion of each mission as the determining factor to move you forward in a career.

Yes it is possible to finish a campaign. I have several times. Survive, achieve most of your objectives, and sink ships.

having your base changed without requesting a transfer is normal. Watch your messages and you 'should' be notified of the the change.

I suppose that in the 'stock' game if you aquire massively ridculous amounts of tonnage you could get retired never seen that though.

Most sub commander carrers dident span the entire war anyhow. At least not in active duty. Hrm... desk job simulator doesent excite me too much :p

One thing I have noticed about SH IV is that it is a space hog. Maybe you cant save because you have used up all the space on your hard drive and it wont fit the game. I have seen some whopper size saved files like almost a gig. So check the C: drive and see if its crying for space.

is it best to delete most automatic saved files (on entering base ets. )?
ps : i already reinstalled with the same problem as a result :damn:

Do you have the add on u boat thingy?

If not I would say 1.4.

I am a bit confused about the not loading thing unless the saved games are from an older patched version or some mods were used then not used and vice a versa.

Unless the saved game slots are corrupt. Which is stretching it a bit.

Did you wipe the save games too? Or just reinstalled without clearing the saved games?

i remove everything when i reinstall.
what i forgot to say is that sometimes when i am playing so i'm in-game it shuts down to .(then i get the message "there is a problem found and i have to shut down ,do you want to report the problem" ?)
i think i'm going to try patch 1.4 (is there a deck gun cheat for that patch ?)

I got to mid 44 and then 1.5 corrupted my save....
should have gone into port....oh well over 1,000,000 tons down the drain...

got that same problem... i was just given a new boat a ballao,, much happier with that one compared to my last boat the dual AA compartment gives a punch on those planes.. departed from Brisbane some time in Feb. '43.. mission was to patrol off east china sea finished it encountered some lone merchant total of 25k tonnage... give an a status report.. got a new mission again this time patrol around Philippine sea ended without some annoyance... and decided to RTB to see what new things i can upgrade... on the way to brisbane near rabaul i encountered a small unescorted convoy of tankers sweet... blowed them out of the water... then i arrived at brisbane heck the end patrol button was not higlighted... so i look to all the message i recieved theres nothing there that saying i was transfered... so i decided to saved the game and alt-tabbed.. browse to my save game folders, looked to the career track there its i was transferred to fremantle, so i said "wat da!!" its on the other part of australia.. so hell i plotted a course for fremantle.. then after killing some planes i arrived at fremantle unscathed and there it is the highlighted "End Patrol" button.. finally i can see some new items for upgrade.. after i ended that patrol hell their retiring my boat along with me... i just got that new boat and there still more than 2 years of game time for me to have fun with that new boat...



BTW im playing a vanilla 1.2 of SH4..

Upgrade to 1.4 right away. It fixes many problems and adds some features.

i would really loved to have 1.4... the thing is dunno what happen to my game.. when installing a patch it says game not installed... i even purchase the add on u-boat missions end up returning it co'z it wont install too... and im scouring some gameshops for another installer of sh4 but sadly i can't find one... i think i'm stuck with 1.2... i think theres something wrong with my sh4 registry keys...
