Anyone know what the heck this is? My crew wont target it, shooting it with the deck gun does nothing, and I'm about to experimentally ram into it to see what happens. In the name of science.

Nooo, it's not green and foggy or filled with the souls of the seas damned. It's actually quite cheery looking.

Ya know, it sort of reminds me of...

" You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead — your next stop, the Twilight Zone."

Although, now that I think about it...

"There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone."

Brave new world perhaps?...

You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination — Next stop, the Twilight Zone.

Yeah, this sounds right...

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas; you've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

I believe it is a light ship. Is it near the coast and is there another ship close by?

I believe it began in GWX 2.0 that the light ships were coded something other than a ship. There was a reason for this although I don't remember what it is. Therefore, so a player would not collide with it since it was not recognized as a ship to your lookouts, a another small ship was placed close by to be IDed by your lookouts.

It's a light ship. Not worth your time.

Not only is it, as someone said, a lightship, but I think they count as neutrals if destroyed.

But that's the funny thing, I cant hit the damn thing. It's also rather far away from any coastline. A small coal tender was next to it, and it went up with a single hit from the deck gun.

Easter Egg?

either that or it was put there in 2005 by the GWX crew - whom all have waited patiently for someone to start a thread entitled

"Red ship with lights, untargetable, indestructable."

Now that their vision has happened - don't be surprised if they sneak up behind you and yell...

Gotcha!!

Nah, there are tons of them. Not an easter egg, just another atmospheric object.

Others have mentioned it before. The light ships are not listed as ships, nor can you lock onto them in periscope or UZO views. The real ones were off limits, as they helped everybody in avoiding rocky waters.

Yea, there is one just north of the Netherlands. I use to sail by it when I was based at my old base.:yep: (I sunk one once, took 2 torps and some deckgunning.

Lightship = Environmental = Idestructible

The reason another ship is anchored nearby is to allow your lookouts to report what they have spotted thus helping you prevent a collision which could/would be detrimental to your health and boats wellbeing http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif
