Hello folks, I seem to have run into an odd problem with SH4 and such.

A back story is needed, to flesh some things out. I have had my copy of SH4 since earlier in the year, June or July I would guess, and I never had a problem with it. Early November my computer takes a hard hit. Windows 32 becomes corrupt, my PC is toast. I manage to get it running again only a week ago and of course re-install SH4(and the U-boat missions). So, problems I noticed from the get-go, SH4 runs like mud, I can no longer run it on high graphics and even on low it still stutters and lurches. I assume that is just left over from my computers crash, I'm rather sure that my graphics card, and other computer innards are irreversibly damaged. Oh well, I can't do anything about that, and I know none of you can.

But perhaps you all can help me with this, the game ran for one day, it worked, kinda- as i stated, like mud, stutter, lurchy, it lagged, etc etc. But now on day 2 the game won't even start. It loads roughly 1/4th of the way on the loading screen, then locks up and freezes. I can not tab out of the window, my computer needs to be physically turned off. I first noticed this when trying to run OM600, which I has successfully ran earlier in the day. So I tried to run the game vanilla. Same result. I have reinstalled the game 3 times, it still refuses to work.

I don't quite know what to do, so anyone have any ideas?

Well make sure your drivers are up to date anyways :p

You dident mention wether or not you wiped your drive (reformatted) but you may want to take a look at the following thread.

I'm probably way off base here, but make sure that your video card is still being recognized in your Device Manager. It sounds like you might be running in some kind of software video mode.

Like I said, I'm probably completely wrong, but that's off the top of my head.

sh4 uses more of your computer than any other game i know, if your ram or video card is damaged or not working at full capacity that could be your problem.

you need to do some troubleshooting and diagnostic testing of your computer to see if everything is working ok. somethings not right with your ram or the video card.

Make sure your GC Chipset is installed, and up to date. Make sure all graphic accelerations are enabled. Run Dxdiag and perform all the tests on the GC. It may help to post your dxdiag here, so some of the more PC savy guys could look it over and possibly spot potential problems.

I uninstalled my other games and did that previous listed uninstall of SH4, and reinstalled it, its running again, for now. Thanks folks.
