Looks good to me and should work very well. What OS? 64 bit or 32 bit? After much study I'm going with Vista 64 bit on my computer.

The only thing I'd change is go either with a nVidia 9800GTX+ or ATI-based 4870 video card. The 9600 is already being left behind...

Good point! Also, what mobo?

Good advice. Problem is the system is probably being offered as a 'package' hence the low price.

I wonder, going off topic, what would be the best graphic card to get. Im thinking of upgrading out of my 8800 gts 640mb.

errr my system is

e8400 3.0ghz

3 gigs of ram

vista 64 bit

8800gts 640mb

650 watt BFG power supply.

Im not realy too happy with this 8800 gts.

I would say the HD4870, not very costly but very good.

But, if I had my choice for an Intel based solution... For a mobo for a Q9400, I'd go with just about any ASUS boards, any of the boards starting with P5xx and LGA775 sockets would work well. It depends on the other features, Crossfire or SLI support, etc...

I like this P5Q3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131344

FWIW, this is a system I spec'd out and ordered myself from Newegg.com after mine fried over the holiday:

Processor: AMD Phenom x4 9950 2.6GHz "Black Edition"
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H
RAM Memory: Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) 240Pin DDR2 800 (PC6400) x2 for 8GB on board
Video Card: Asus ATI 4870 Dark Knight 1GB DDR5 256bit
Enclosure: xClio Wind Tunnel Full tower
Power: Corsair CMPSU-750TX (750W 60A)
DVD: Samsung 22x DVD r/RW

I'm recycling my hard drives so I didn't include them. The price was $900.00US and it should run like a raped ape... I expect to push this CPU up to 3.2GHz with the stock CPU cooler and beyond with a Noctua NH-U12P or Coller Master V8 and the RAM to 900Mhz (after the board, CPU and RAM all burn in after a couple of weeks.)

I know AVG just ordered a smokin' AMD Phenom system too...

Don't discount the AMD CPUs... they can be overclocked and kept very stable if you have the right mobo and RAM...

Is your 8800 gts not good to play games on high settings or in online fights?

my old pc is almost 8 years: Pentium 4 CPU 1.9o GHz
clockspeed 1.90 GHz 1,00 GB
virtual memory 1024 MB
7800 GS
the only game i can play decent is Il2 sturmovik offline, even GWX is a desaster

My 8800 works good for most of my games, and it can play things like the Crysis demo, and sh3 (at around 200fps with gwx) pretty good, but for some reason, It sucks at Sh4, and im pretty sure its gonna do the same thing at SH5.:-? (this computer also has good and bad days, some days it runs faster than others.)

for some reason, the 8800 has had issue with SH4 since it came out. Not sure why.

Think about moving up to the 9800. Nice prices out there. I would not consider a card any lower than the 9800. Just a thought.
