View Full Version : America 'Disintegrates' in 2010

I figured I would post this before "someone" else does. :smug: It's interesting, although I have to laugh at the idea of a civil war brought on by "moral degredation". Anyway, please discuss with a little civility. We don't want a flame war here to trigger the collapse of the world's oldest democracy. ;)

As if Things Weren't Bad Enough, Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S.

Mr. Panarin posits, in brief, that mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation will trigger a civil war next fall and the collapse of the dollar. Around the end of June 2010, or early July, he says, the U.S. will break into six pieces -- with Alaska reverting to Russian control.

I think this guys been smoking a little too much wacky tobacky:D There's no way that New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia are going to become part of Mexico and Texas has already been reclaimed by Mexico (at least as far North as San Antonio).

If he thinks New York and New England would allow Kentucky and Tennessee into their union, he has zero understanding of American culture. And Texas would just say screw it, we're a Republic again. We wouldn't have anything to do with Oklahoma.

Such crackpots are always there, but at least the guy is brave, one has to give him that. Most people would at least have waffled a bit. Say "sometime in the next ten years" or even muffier than that. Pinning his prediction down to less than a month's span?

In the unlikely event that it actually happens sometime, he'll be a visionary of a sort.

In the impossible event it actually happens on schedule, he deserves a Nobel Prize, because he'll have found a way to scientifically calculate the effects of countless psychological, sociological and economic factors and integrate them into a highly accurate model.

In a sense, I almost wish he's right, because then it'll be one huge step for socialscience. Overnight it'll have gotten out of the "soft science" category and into the hard.

But then, if he's right, we are really screwed. While there are many nations that want to see America get pulled down from its leader spot, I don't think any nation in the world is ready for America to go down in 2010.

Fortunately, he's just a crackpot...

This is why we have to take Russia serious no matter what they or their spokesmen say. Sure we can laugh at the thoughts of Mexico taking any portion of the USA back, but we can't laugh at the fact that this is what our enemy wants.

The only civil war I see is when they try to take our guns away ... door to door searches would become very unhealthy for the authorities. :yep:

To predict a civil war is one thing. To pretend that you know the exact outcome of said war, and the result of redrawn borders is entirely different.

Not sure if I'd use the term "crackpot". More likely he's just trying to get some attention or retain his relevency in Putin's New Old Russia.

The funny thing is that, when this DOESN'T happen in 2010, no one will remember to post him up on it.

Oh, and oddly enough, that while I think the good professor's a media whore, I ALSO think that we are, as a nation, teetering on a precipice. While I highly doubt that any civil war will occur, I do find it likely that states will eventually begin reasserting their Constitutional powers, rendering the beast that has grown to be the Federal Government nearly completely ineffective (as opposed to its current state of nearly completely ineffective, right? :know: ).

It's just getting too damned partisan out there.

To spin this a little further:
East Coast = either 13 colonies or a rebirth of the confederacy...
Florida goes to Cuba, mainly because the cubans are tired of boat people trying to land in Cuba.
Mexico tries to annex Texas but fails due to heroic texas resistance, but takes back New Mexico, Arizona etc.
The flagship of the Texas navy, 100+ year old RTS (ex USS) Texas renders valuable gunfire support to the defenders of houston, then sinks entire mexican navy in the battle of Galveston.
Louisiana becomes some kind of a voodocracy like Haiti under "Papa Doc"
Arnie declares independence for California, is elected as president for life and changes the Name to Federal Republic of Kalifornia.
Hawaii becomes a japanese prefecture and base to the new carrier fleet of the newly renamed imperial japanese navy.
Alaska rejoins the russian Federation, due to good diplomacy by Sarah Palin.
In her honor, Juneau is renamed into Palinsk.
An evanglical sect tries to take over the North Dakota missile fields in order to bring about the end of the world, but is twarted by canadian special forces.
Shortly after, Canada and Kalifornia clash violently over Washington State.
In the second battle of Seattle, heroic troops comprised of the Seattle grunge brigade, the San Francisco Rainbow brigade combat team, the Berkeley Red Banner division and the elite Kalifornia Kommandos hold out against superior canadian forces and ultimately hold the city. Due to chaos, Bigfoots scavenge in abandoned seattle suburbs.
The new confederacy reaches an agreement with the northern states to divide the Atlantic Fleet and regarding the further lease of Norfolk as a naval base.
The new confederacy also adapts the Euro :P

Guns are...popular? I don't think it's the popularity of guns that makes a place difficult to conquer, or a tough opponent in war. Besides, a good amount of those people who are gun enthusiasts have also served.

Then again, let's assume that this idiot professor is correct and the nation splits according to his crystal ball. Why would we then go on to assume that Mexico would want to attack in the first place? Frankly, in that situation a foreign invader would be just what we'd need to reunite.

Indeed, why would Mexico want any part of the US? If they took it over, they wouldn't have anywhere to run away to.:D

Killer bee's take over Mexico and they all flee to the USA for sanity reasons vowing never to go back ... the State Department agree's they can stay as long as they have proof of a Mexican residency.

Forcing millions of illegals to return to Mexico long enough to qualify.

I'm not even drinking and it's New Years Eve ... Happy New Year :p

I like how the US will be split up: not along cultural or socio-economic lines, i.e. NYC separating from the rest of NY, but along state borders. Right. "We're destroying the union, but we MUST RETAIN its internal boundaries!"

However, being on the East Coast, I'd jump at the opportunity to join the EU. I don't think they'd have us, though.

There is alot of division in this country. In many ways I just don't understand my red state counterparts. Still, that doesn't mean a civil war is coming. We shouldn't secede from the Reds. Instead, we Blues should competely annihilate them in a surprise thermonuclear strike. The fallout won't bother us; we'll just fly over it like we usually do. :D
