Did GWX 2.1+ mess with the cruise range of the TYPE II?

I remember in previous versions having to carefully nurture my fuel just to make it to the English coast and back at a bare 1/3 power.

Now I can zip along at 10 kts and still have plenty to fuel to spare to range all up and down the coast with no problems.:nope:

What up with this....I play the IIA because I like the limitations it requires...I dont want artificial cheats.:shifty:

I cant speak to see if the other models have changed also.

It is mentioned in the GWX 2.1 manual. But I don't know if that was a leftover from earlier version, or introduced in 2.1. Their reasoning was that (in the game) degrees of longitude near the poles have the exact same length as on the equator. This is due to the type of map projection used in the game. A degree of longitude at or near the poles in reallife is almost nothing.

Since the type 2 is supposed to be used between the 50 and 60th lattitude parrallel the ingame distances to patrol zones are longer than would be experienced in reallife. And so the reported distances of endurance should be corrected for game balance. Makes sense to me.

One of my old complaints has been that in reality there were only six Type IIAs. There were a lot more IIBs, and they did most of the North Sea patrols. The difference was a much longer range.

The longer range in GWX, as said, has to do with the fact that the SH3 world is flat, and distances are farther than in real life. It's not a cheat.
