Greetings,

Last week I had emailed Golden Rivet in regards to a printable copy of his Ship Recognition Manual. When he replied that he'd be willing to send me a fully printed copy, well I was elated and shocked. When I received it today, included as well was his Target Speed Booklet. So, here are my reviews of both items:

Upon opening the package I gave an appreciative whistle. A lovely brown cover met my eyes, and the title Kriegsmarine Erkennungshandbuch Handelsschiff with the famous German Eagle logo and 1939 printed at the bottom. Ringlet plastic form to hold each page in place tops off the excellent packaging.

Contents include:

37 Ships - excluding yachts, schooners, fishing boats etc.
10 Planes

What I love about this is its similarity to the on-screen manual, these are presented in alphabetical order and within 20 minutes I had a ship within range of my 10X periscope and identified her. Another positive is the small size, measuring a scant 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, it's small enough to put in my briefcase and have it available whenever the occasion arises.

Next is the Kriegsmarine Target Speed Booklet: Lovely cover with a central eagle logo and a faded "stamp". The same quality and ringlet plastic completes the package.

Inside we have charts that tell you how fast each enemy ship will travel in a specific time. If you measure using the verrtical cross hair of the periscope, when the ship has traversed from one end to the other - simply cross-reference in the chart and voila - speed is given.

Handy, sharp packaging and this compliments the Ship Manual, by adding an extra dose of information to your hunting capabilitiy.

I like the concept GR has created here, with a package that allows for expandability if one so desires. When I play SH3, I'm instantly transported back to WWII, and using these tools helps even more depth to my gaming experience. Below you can see my Kriegsmarine Compass set, with Golden Rivet's booklets.

Nice review.

Could we expect any thing less from GR on his work?
