how fast do the electrict car batteries charge? Can you charge one faster than you can fill a tank of gas?
what's why gas rules the universe.

This proposal is actually not to far off from what Obama's cabinet wants to do.
To paraphrase "Increase fuel prices with tariffs untill they rival that of the EU".

Funny how an increase in oil prices affects the US a hell of a lot more than some other countries.

Its one of the main sources of revenue... taxes make up a large percentage of the 'cost' of a galon of gas. As the base price goes down so does the revenue stream.
So if the base price goes down, increase the tariffs to get that revenue stream flowing again.

Funny how an increase in oil prices affects the US a hell of a lot more than some other countries. Not 100% sure on this, but I think folks here have to commute much farther distances to get to work, which affects them substantially when gas prices double. Also we do not decent mass transit.

Not to mention the distances that goods have to be transported by either truck or train.

That's why in the UK if the govt. wanted to we can mitigate oil price rises affecting petrol, but of course what govt. ever likes to lower taxes?

Well, the UK gov't just cut VAT :P
(a pointless endeavour, as it turned out)

Another example of why stupidity is the most powerful force in the universe. Mess with the invisible hand, and you'll get slapped.
