reporting contacts

if you come across a convoy and your out of torps or ammo,
when you report contacts ,do friendly troups go after them?
(basicly calling for help)
and if you have ammo and report , do they come help you ?

I'm assumeing you're useing v1.5 of the game correct? If you are in the vicinity of friendly units (airbases) you could call them in for assistance. I had one case where I was tracking a merchant, dove to initiate my attack, and heard explosions. I raised the scope to see what happened, and spotted two B-24's heading away, after sinking my ship. If within their patrol zone, they'll come without being summoned as I found out!

By the way, when in the Nav screen, there are two markers. One places the "x" marks on the map, the other calls in backup.

I dont think it really matters. If you report a convoy and your out of torpedoes you will get a message "Good find, we will direct other assets. RTB at your disgression".

Ive shadowed the convoy for a number of days, a couple of times, and they never get attacked.

So... go ahead and report, the addittional renown cant hurt.

What does hurt is when you report and the convoy is already ahead of you steaming away, you have like two torpedoes left in the stern tube and you get "Good find, prosecute, troop carriers have priority" :roll: .. Yea uhhh well we dont have enough fuel or munitions to do so, even if we did manage to get into position we only have enough to maybe possibly luckely sink one ship :doh:
