i have been a player of sh3 since it came out, and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I am really dumb when it comes to computers though. I know enough to use them, but anything beyond that generally turns into a train-wreck.

I really enjoyed the original gwx, and because it took me 3days to get it downloaded and started, I never attempted to mod it further.

Life was grand and happy for about a year, I spent my free time smashing the allies relentlessly, (and got smashed myself a few times) ..however, the girlfreind was "fixing" the computer recently and crashed windows, and we lost it all.

I have only ever modded sh3, (with a lot of help and agrevation) and I am wondering if anyone can help me.

I have tried to download gwx 2, but forgot to patch the original game to 1.
4 before hand and I got this message:

EBUG: Test 1 FAILED
DEBUG: Test 2 FAILED Version is
DEBUG: Test 3 FAILED
DEBUG: Test 4 Seems to have PASSED IF Size is not Zero - Size is 0
DEBUG: Test 5 Seems to have PASSED IF Size is not Zero - Size is 0
DEBUG: Test 6 Seems to have PASSED IF Size is not Zero - Size is 0
At least one of the tests failed

Realizing how stupid I was, I patched the game, and re-downloaded the first three bins, and got the same message.

Beyond that, while actually trying to get the bills to work, I tried to get into the "documents"-Silent Hunter III file to remove it and set up a new folder on my desk top, but could not find the sh3 file under documents.

You have probably figured out that I am not all that great with computers (unless its the tdc :) If someone could give me a hand I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh, and I am using xp

Cheers

Wait a few days and get GWX 3.0
It will save you future headaches.

Here's how I do it.

I rename the Silent Hunter folder in Program files.
Then do a new install.
It gives you the choice to repair.
Select that.
Then patch to 1.4
Use Multi SH3 to rename it's savegame folder.
Install GWX 3.0

Fastest way I know.
And works everytime.

You using Vista? I think there are different instructions for vista in the manual for GWX.... of what needs to be deleted and stuff.

You should post your problems here, it'll take a day or so for them to respond, but they will eventually answer your question:

Halifax,

I am in the same boat. I am running vanilla with a few mods and having a ball trying to make through the war. I keep reading about other folks issues and I do not want to ruin a good experience yet I would like to enjoy the new release if it is easy to install. But at 60, I am losing my eyesight, and the challenges are too many to fix issues on my computer especially when I have only one hour a night to play. I look forward to 3.0 and hopefully I can load it up!

Love this sim.
