Gato Class vs Balao Class

I was so pleased with myself.. changed my Gato Class Submarine name to USS Silversides and was racking up 100,000's of Tons of sunk enemy ships and then they rewarded me by giving me a new ship.... The Balao class.

I am just wondering what people think about the new boat upgrade?

The user manual says everything is about the same. I see it's got more gun options and a bow mounted main gun (which I really like I think).

Anyway, about to go on my first mission with my new boat.

Now I need to find a new rusty metal skin mod for my new boat. :)

Not any major differences. The bow mounted deck gun is an advantage in an offensive attack, but is also available on the Gato. You should be able to dive a little deeper, other than that, I don't think you will notice any signifigant advantages. It's still nice to upgrade though ! There are some nice new skins available for your boat. I have used Foobor's skins...very sweet indeed. Just check the mods section of the forum, you'll find them there. Yep, found teh Foobar skin for the Balao, installed it.. started my first mission with the new boat and whamoo.... now none of my missions will load and it looks like I have to uninstall the reinstall the game.

Balaos can go way deeper.
