Very stupid people, these parents. They asked for trouble the day they picked this name for their son. And their son, if not becoming a Nazi later on, will pay for their blatant stupidity. that now they complain about others and ask for tolerance where they themselves refused to show any sense of piety themselves, just is the cream on top of it. Idiots.

Umm.. well I wouldn't name my child Adolph Hitler, but as the guy said, a name is a name.

But think of the kid, it would really suck to be named Adolph Hitler! He probably will end up changing it anyways. William Patrick Hitler (Adolph's nephew) named his son
Adolph (sick joke?) and he just changed it to Alex.

Too bad those kids have to pay for their parents stupidly.

The Campbells' other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.
Just stupid.

But I'm going to guess the kids are going to end up a lot like the parents anyways.

You name one kid Adolph Hitler and give another the middle names of Aryan Nation and expect anyone to believe that you aren't racist? What have they been smoking?

12-16-08, 09:33 PM
Personally I do not see why a name such as Adolph has to be villified. It has been around a lot longer than Hitler. But I guess society views things as such, sort of like the word "Gay" for example. I suppose words or names can be hijacked or villified due to the acts and agenda of one or a few...(sigh)

I don't think it's the name Adolph that's the problem. Choosing to put together the names Adolph and Hitler as first and middle names is a bit of a stretch regarding credibility. It's not like Mr and Mrs Head naming their child Richard and not thinking about nicknames.

Whats funny about Richard Head?

I think the kids parents are completely missing the point of trying new things.

First of all, the name Adolph isn't new, and giving him the middle name "Hitler" seems like they were trying to sound racist. So is "Aryan Nation". Seriously, what?

Second, their argument makes them sound like retards, they've taken a quote out of context and slapped it in.

Third, they haven't considered at all what the kid would say. Would you like it if someone decided to name you after the most notorious man to live?

Wait till I tell him someone beat him to the punch.

In a normal world naming your kids whatever you want should be tolerated without bias. But we don't live in a normal world. So naming him or her these odd names will cause issue. Poor kids.:nope:

Sorry but the parents must've been smoking something good when they named him. Yes I get its a name, and yes parents are allowed to name their kids whatever they please.

I just dont agree with them naming their son Adolph (Let alone Hitler) after one of the worlds most hated individuals. But they're entitled to do what they want. Feel bad for the kid though, either he'll be feared in the playground or teased and most likely bullied something shocking.

its simple - they've either got a terrible sense of humour or they're racist SOBs.

I guess names in the same boat would be Joseph Stalin, Mao tse-Tung, Genghis Khan...

names that have been tarred with a very nasty brush.

:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

I've had the misfortune of knowing people who approach this level of obliviousness (I prefer that term because no one intends to be stupid, imo). In my case, the idolized extremist philosophy was that of the KKK. While such people are social misfits, at best, and often downright abrasive, at least they are stupid enough that they are easily taken advantage of. In that way, we can benefit from their foolishness.

However, they have the right to believe and speak in whatever manner they choose so long as they do not violate the rights of others (btw, there is no right to be free from being insulted). Should I ever meet these people, and come to despise them as much as I suspect I would, I would still fight, and die, if neccesary to protect their freedoms of speech and belief against one who would take them, no matter how good their intentions might be.

On a somewhat lighter note, I'd love to be a fly on the wall at this kid's first job interview, assuming he makes it through his school years. Maybe he'll break away from his parents' ideology, but the rotten apple doesn't often fall far from the tree.

Don't be so sure. Given kids, first they won't even recognize the connection, then when they find out they might just say "COOL! I wish my parents named me something like that!"

Sure, bullies might use that as an excuse, but then bullies use almost anything as an excuse. If that kid's personality is that kind that doesn't make him a target for bullies, he might actually turn it around into an "advantage" of sorts.

Anyway, regardless of the stupidity of the parent, it is not the kids fault, and Adolf Hitler, while definitely one of the worst history ever popped out, is hardly vulgar or anything of the sort. The shop had no right to refuse, especially once they confirm it is indeed the child's name.
