Boat question

I have played SH4 through 3 careers, currently on my 4th. I could not make it all the way through the previous 3 because of virus' or something of that nature.

But, I'm currently in about 10/43. Stationed in Perth-Freemantle.

Now the old community manual for SH3 listed when new boats were available and what ports they were available in.

My question is, when are the "new" boats available, and where?

I seen in ther manual that came with the book the Tambor class was available in 1943, but it does not say when or where.

Does anybody know when and where all the boat classes were available?

As far as I know the game assigns you a new boat but you don't get to pick which one. I think it is based on your previous patrols and renown.

I am about at the same time as you and I am based at Pearl then Midway.
I started with a Narwhal, (Loved the two deck guns) 3 Patrols. Which got me a
new boat but it was assigned I could not pick it. 3 more patrols in the Gato and
I was assigned a Balao. Changing bases may give you an option but I have never
tried it. ?????? You might try Midway or Pearl.

Well, you see, I started out of Manilla, in a Sargo class. Then after about 8 missions, I accepted a Gato class boat in Pearl. Now I captian a Balao class out of Perth-Freemantle.

I have only been offered two boats, the Gato, and the Balao.

Of the boats represented in game, only the Gato and Balao class subs were commissioned during the war.
