Not a nice bunch of people I would say.

Anyway, just kind of curious as to what people think of this type of group?

What would you do with a group of liars, cheaters and thiefs?

Send them to Washington and call them the Bush Administration.

I dare say all of us at one time or another have lied, cheated or stole. Maybe they were big lies or thefts, maybe they were just small ones. Maybe it was done for a selfish or selfless reason. But I can almost guarantee that we all have.

Zen moment over. :)

None of my lies ever resulted in war.

As if there aren't cheaters liars and thiefs in even the most religious society. I think you're making it yourself too easy with blaming it on the atheist boogeyman.

Well, as the USA is actually one of the most rabidly religious nations in the world, it follows that the more religious a nation is the more likely its populace are to cheat. Presumably because, as believers in a magical wizard in the sky, they are lying to themselves already...

You'd think that from reading the foreign press but it's just not true.

In Subman's little world, debate is what you put on de hook in order to catch de fish. Or, in this case, some bored subsimmers....:rotfl:

Greed and corruption is not partisan, it is political and pervades in both parties. Power and manipulation is their motivation and not public service for the good of the Country.

Not that it adds anything to the discussion, but the plural of thief is spelled thieves.

I kind of have to wonder what the point of this thread is, other than discussion for the pleasure of it. Every person in the world is or has;

1) Lied
2) Cheated
3) Stole

or

4) Denied that assertion, and so is placed in category 1:D

Lawyers come to mind as paragons of all 4, though. Interesting that "Seeing justice done" and "acting on behalf of the people" are so profitable:hmm:

Maybe that's why so many politicians are/were lawyers:hmm:

As always, a few words of caution on behalf of liberty;

"A good liar is the most trustworthy type of person on earth.......as far you know"

Is that such a bad thing? Expressing one's views and a little healthy debate is a good thing, IMO. At the very least, the exposure to others' views, no matter the subject, can't hurt as long as they are expressed in a civil manner.

Even as I read your post and typed my reply, this thread began to present the issues of freedom of expression. Sub has the right to say whatever he wishes within the community guidelines. People who disrespect others' views or act in an abrasive manner are disdained by others, and can be banned, so where's the harm?

Personally, I agree with SUBMAN1 on many issues, to varying degrees, and disagree, to varying degrees, on others.

Whatever the motives of the OP, in any thread, we can only benefit by sharing our views in a respectful manner, no?

That's a question, not an opinion. And it's a baiting question, designed to let Subman make some absurd point or another. As for a respectful manner, this is not how tho OP operates. If you disagree, you are either A) stupid or B) using sources of bias.

For these same reasons, there is no "healthy debate" with the OP. Feel free to pour over many of the OP's previous threads. I think you'll find my assessment is accurate.

By the way....

I think this forum is an excellent microcosm for our country. We tend to disagree, and in debate we can become heated, and the divide grows. Take August and I for example. We agree on very little, if anything. We often snipe at each other. But in reading other non political threads, I wonder how we would get on in person. Maybe not too badly, I think. I'm sure this is true of a lot of us. I myself have been guilty of being intolerant of the views of some of the more right wing leaning members. I've regretted it, I've had private conversations with some of them about it, and I've avoided these forums for months on end because of it. (It can really be a very unpleasant environment sometimes...) We are naturally less polite here than we are in a public place amongst living breathing humans. I try to do better, and I avoid threads, etc. Which is actually kind of a shame. But so it is.

Now, having said that, I do NOT include Subman in the above analogy. I often wonder if he even believes what he posts. Sometimes, I highly doubt it. I think of Subman as a troll who likes to start controversial discussions, and make them into fights. He is intolerant of anyone and everyone who disagrees with his sometimes absurd opinions, and he is content that he knows more than you, no matter who you are. In my humble opinion, he is of no value to this community. I've often thought of doing the ignore thing, and maybe I will, but I'd hate to do that. Who wants to be involved in conversations with chunks of it missing? ...To summarize, healthy discussion of any issue is worthwhile. Bantering back and forth with someone as hard headed and ignorant as Subman is not.
