Welcome to the forums Smirnov.... I must admit, I've also wondered if that was modeled into the game. Not being sure, I always turn it off just to be sure. Very good first question !

That is the most unbelieveably dumb question, I thought. This is a game, and there is no way the Japs can hear me playing the radio, so I went into attack mode gleefully playing songs from the South Pacific, wondering how their soundman would translate song verses like "I'm Miss Corny in Kansas in August..."
"Hearty, Har, Har, POW, BANG" as Ralph Cramdon would say, when I read the rideiculous post. But a shudder went my boat and rocked me from head to toes like a bolt of lightening when I read the post from the eminent Pacific Thunder in response saying the Japs could hear the radio. No wonder their destroyers always are on me like flies on sh..!
Walter Houston said as he danced a jig in Treasure of Sierra Madre while his co-horts, including Humphrey Bogart, were groveling in the dirt claiming they were going to be rich after they spotted fools gold on the mountain side, "Just look in the mirror boys, and you will see the two biggest jackasses in the world." Was he talking to me? (Do not answer that, men, please.)
HEE HAW!
Good post. My sound man, Stanley's, reaction, "Well, That's another nice mess you gotten us into.":smug:
Help. I'm goin' down (again)!

You could do like the capt in "The Enemy Below" and sing along to taunt them! Too bad the game doesn't have an event camera of the sonar station of the attacking escort vessel with translation. That would be interesting to see.

That is exactly what I thought seeing the title of this thread .

Even if it didn't work in the game, I'd turn it off. In fact any time I hear "Ship spotted!" the first thing I do is turn off what was an escape but is now a distraction. I don't want my men thinking about anything but the job at hand.
Is it the same for SHIII?:hmm:

That seen from The Enemy Below brings back memories. I remember first watching that film when I was but a wee boy, and humming its theme music in the tub whilst playing with my toy ships.
Haven't seen it in years ... I should check to see if it's available on DVD.

Sweet, thanks.
I found The Enemy Below on Amazon last night, but held off on ordering it. Good thing, because that multipack looks better.
Always liked Sink the Bismarck!
