View Full Version : Allies give up in Dec. 43!!! (help!)

Good news fellow Kaleuns! It would seem that I have single-handedly ended the war in December of 1943, as the Allies can no longer bear the grievious losses I have inflicted upon their merchant and naval fleets. 2.5 million tons' worth to be exact. And all of that with GWX 2.1 at 100% realism. I'll be happy to post a screenshot of the notice, if someone could tell me how.

As jubilant as I am about this great victory for the German people, I would actually like to fight for a couple more years and maybe get a Type XXI.

I can't seem to get past the "The War is Over" message, which appears after my last save, (In base before mission) in late Nov. 43'. I can load the save and play the patrol, but whether I try to play another mission or exit to the menu, and even the game(to play again later), I always get that message. Changing my base from Lorient doesn't seem to matter, either. Basically, once I finish the patrol, the last save game entry is always dated December whatevereth, 1943.
I have not tried starting a new career yet, as I hope to salvage this one, and it would be very sad to have the same thing happen after investing all that time again.

I was running the lifeboat mod as well, but I disabled it in case it might be part of the problem, which I doubted, but I had to be sure.

Has anyone else had this problem, or could maybe offer potential fixes?

Some system info that may help;

iMac desktop running Intel CoreDuo t7700 @ 2.4 ghz with 2 gigs of RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 2600 XT, running Windows Vista Home Basic under BootCamp 2.0.
GWX 2.1 mod

Also I have been running GWX without the SH3 disc, as it has been damaged, which my ex-girlfriend assures me she had nothing to do with:roll:

Also, I apologize if this was covered in the GWX manual, which I no longer have, because the name sounded sufficiently pornographic (yeah, I'm serious) to warrant deletion by certain aforementioned parties.

Help, criticism, and good luck wishes are appreciated,

The Lance

In the meantime while your waiting for a more helpful answer from someone else way more qualified than me I would suggest:

1.Try starting a new career in 1944 to see if you can. Edit:keep old career until someone else says it's worthless or you get fed up
2.GWX Manual http://files.filefront.com/Manual+V21pdf/;11397608;/fileinfo.html
3. Get new copy of DVD SH3 can't be more than £10 now, cheaper than a round in the pub and lasts longer:arrgh!:

Doesn't seem to work in the save game screen. Maybe I'll take a picture and then post that.

Started 2 other careers that seem to be working fine, so I guess it's the save data. Just need to know where to look.

Could you post your mod-list? That might tell us something.

The "War Over Bug" is an old stock SH3 problem.

IIRC it is caused by something that a player may prevent. (failing to roll-back Sh3 Commander / or installing mods mid-patrol... some such thing... will check my archives when I get a moment.)

The only two mods running were GWX 2.1 (naturally:D ) and the lifeboat mod when the problem occurred. I subsequently disabled the lifeboat mod.

Recently I've been going through SH3/Data/Careers looking for a 1 where there should be a zero but I haven't messed with anything yet.
