Does anyone know where a good place to hit the Fuso Battleship is, or what depth? I have tried under all the turrets (thinking the magazine would likely be there) Not long ago I had a 1 hit kill and am trying to do it again since I have come across one and only have 1 torp left.

under the turrets or if you trust the Torp for a deep under the keel shot...don't shoot too far under.

I will try. Seems the manual is a bit off on the draft of the ships.

No its just the magnetic exploders dont really work too well. Out of all the torps I've put under the keel I've only ever seen one break her back, and it was a DD to boot too!

I'd go for impacts, better chances of hits and a sinking.

Good places for a hit are below the bridge ore the aft structure.

The fewest hits to sink an IJN BB was 3 on Kongo.

Course, she was the only IJN BB sunk by a sub. Yamato and Musashi each took a couple and steamed on.

As another reality check, the fewest hits to sink an IJN CA was 4, though 4 didn't always sink them. If it were me, I'd sink a smaller ship she is in company with (like a CL).

Turrents and engines. Course lately I've been shootinb bows off ships, they get a bad forward list and eventually the props come out of the water still spinning at full speed in the air. Stopped, I can finish them off when I want.

"One hit kills" on a battleship are the exception rather than the rule. That is, I wouldn't expect that to happen all that often. As a general rule, it takes 3 to 5 torps (possibly more) to sink a Japanese battleship. A Fuso will (more often than not) take four or five torps to sink. As mentioned previously, aim for areas beneath the stacks and gun turrets. Good luck.

For the first time in years playing, wasn't long ago I hit a Kongo with one MK 10 and it blew up and sunk. Never seen it but one time and never figured that out. All others, usually 4-6.

There are some historical examples of how a ship can simply blow up with just that one, single lucky hit. Or sometimes not even that. Examples would be the Lusitania (where apparently air-sprayed coal powder in the fuel deposits increased dramaticly the effects of a german WWI torpedo) or the Maine (where pure and simple design flaws accounted for the ship's explosion, credited for many years to a spanish mine laid in the harbor of havana).

So if those things can happen, what's to stop that tiny, puny, extremelly lucky single torpedo to cause something critical and tear apart the Yamato? Sure enough, that would be a one-in-a-million odd, but the opportunity is there.

So that raises an interesting question. If you guys are feeling like it, and were trying to emulate Gunther Prien's feat of lurching into a harbor full of capital ships, what would you do? would you:

a) spray all your six torps all over the victims, say, one or two per ship, or

b) concentrante all of them in the largest target?
