I don't know if others have seen this or not: images of the Royal Oak at the bottom of Scapa Flow. These come from ADUS (http://www.adus-uk.com/), a sonar imaging company.

I agree, that image is extremely impressive.

Believe it or not, I met my wife in a pub called Royal Oak :D

Yeah, there are few ships depicted like that due to the advances in sonar imagery equipment http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif

I had the pleasure of diving on the HMS Hood in Portland harbour before it was put off bounds to divers. Before anyone starts abusing me, it was a previous HMS Hood - the Dreadnought Battleship that was deliberately sunk as a blockship in 1914: http://www.nasportsmouth.org.uk/projects/portland_map2004.php

I've also managed to get to the landing craft but haven't yet managed the M2, a submarine aircraft carrier.

Just a minor correction:
...it was a previous HMS Hood - the Dreadnought Battleship that was deliberately sunk as a blockship in 1914...
That Hood was a PRE-Dreadnought battleship. It was the ninth ship of the eight-ship Royal Sovereign class. The 13.5" guns carried by the class had to be housed in open barbettes, as turrets would have made them top heavy. Hood was built to carry turrets, but to save the top-weight she had a very low freeboard fore and aft, making her a very wet ship.

Yikes! This is what sonar can do these days? Makes me wonder how vulnerable subs are today :hmm:

You can buy a decent sidescan sonar for around £2000 these days. Nowhere near the clarity of the images above but enough to give you a general shape of a contact.
