Gentlemen,
I use GWX 2.1 and have a Q about torpedoes "normalisation" dates: when can I use magnetic pistols again? After Norwegian campaign - does it mean after summer '40? Or is it better to forget about T II mags and wait for T III, as stated in manual?
And what about T I - it isn't mentioned about problems with their mags? While my experience shows roughly equal fault rate of both T I and T II... Is it true?
BdU is still informing me via radio, but I'm afraid to miss smth important while in port =)

Where? Ahh i remember that after I just notice the same thing!
To switch impact or magnetic......
Go to F5 or F6......... its the torpedo selection. I mean the place where you can set the depth, distance, speed bla bla bla.........
So the button which makes you to switch magnitic/impact is above the salvo selection. It's a circle with a "I" and "M" on it!
M for magnetic and I for impact

I'm always using impact pistols (I'm a bit old fashioned) to avoid such situations. As a rule of thumb though after 1941 you are safe to use magnetic without any (serious) problems.

Same here, never ever use them magnetics.

I consider using magnetics very risky until after 1941, they mostly detonate prematurely and give away my position, while missing the ship they were aimed at. So I've been setting Impact pistols with a spread of two eels for ships over 2000 tons. Sometimes I spread even 3 for bigger ones. Thats the way it was done historically and it's the way I feel comfortable with.
I use magnetics quite a bit ... as long as you're after 41 like they said and aren't stupid about it you'll be fine. Don't forget to fine tune the running depth depending on the weather, and never use magnetics for very heavy seas. You'll get 100% premature detonations, every time.
Using Mags before 41 is a waste of KM resources and should be avoided. Only time I use mags is for 0 angle shots where there is a good chance of getting a magnetic to exploy by running the length of the keel.

Realistically, the magnetic exploders were used up through the Norway campaign in 1940. After that they were removed, and not in service again until early 1943. They could be physically removed and replaced, but in real life there was no switch that just turned them on and off.

Dowly, you should retire. The war is affecting your appearance--you're getting uglier (see your avatar) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
