under 500 grand for a whiskey class. Heck, get a few hundred guys to chuck in a grand or two, and we're in bidness.

Subsim project SS-1 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=131985&highlight=submarine)

Too bad, the sub was sold and is no longer available, they need to take down that webpage.

There's an alternative to that Russian rustbucket. Oh sure, it's 10x more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Oberon class forever!

The only problem with these kinds of boats is that you will litterally have to service check several valves pr day year round to have it ready for operation - there are THAT many on board!

I don't get that e-bay listing? Is it for the sub or is it to raise donations for the museum?

Err

AU $4,900,000.00
That's kinda pricey, for a donation

Anyway, do I get to be the one that plots firing solutions at passing innocent freighters?

Looks like it's a copy & paste from their website, so I don't think it means anything

Hmmmm, buy one of these, put some torpedo tubes in those subs that mc Beck (I think it was him) and the people who built it with him made. We would have a subsim navy.:p

Given that you could in fact buy torpedoes and missiles for these things, why exactly are war subs legal for ownership? I watched a History Channel program about this drug dealer in Florida (sponsored coke and heroine) who asked the Russians for a private submarine, and the fool says to him "You want this with or without missiles?"

He got a CREW (a TRAINED crew) to bring the sub to the United States, and they stayed to manage the boat until he (the dealer) was busted for possession of illegal substances.
