The Red Alert 3 demo was released late yesterday. I downloaded it today mainly to see how my computer would run the game. It runs it fine and I may pick up the game when EA releases the deauthorization tool in the coming patch. The demo download is 1.8GB so it is a hefty download. The demo comes with some video sequences with the full intro movie, three tutorial missions, and a mission from the Allied and Soviet campaigns. For those on the fence about the game this is a good opportunity to give it a spin.

I had the game for about a week now, lives up to its name some critics have been saying its lost the plot, yet i think its damn good, corny as hell your laugh at the female actresses during the cut scenes. This time round instead of taking out hitler its ...... well wont spoil it - another important person of the 1900's, Oh and we have a Japanese side. Better upgrades, looks really great, no nukes as far as i know haven't finished it yet but Nukes are not an option cause of the start your find out why. Great game so far.

How big is the game? (Both in GB and estimated play time)

Play time is really a subjective thing. I'm still playing Red Alert 2 with Yuri's Revenge! I did a match just last night. I hope to play Red Alert 3 for as long! As far as campaign length I once read that each side has seven missions. I don't know how accurate that is as I don't have the game yet. I'm still waiting for the big patch that is said to be coming. The patch is going to come with a deauthorization tool so you can get them back if you want. It was also said that later on when EA considers RA3 completely finished they would remove the DRM completely with a patch. I don't play games online so I won't know what that will be like. I like to do skirmishes. The requirements for the game say to have 6GB of hard drive space free. 12GB is required for the EA Link Version (whatever that is).

I have a problem with the demo. The game always crashes the moment when Natasha reports in. Also I cannot run the game in any other resolution than 1024x768 (menus are ok but the game engine just won't start).
Anybody here with similar problems?

The demo worked fine for me. Maybe your download became corrupt?

Just over 5gigs in size, estimated playtime just the campaign would take probably 3 days - 3 sides 1 day play for each side, depends how fast you want to go. Ive just finished one side yet over a few days taking it casually.
Multiplayer side of it could go on for months or years for the hardcore.

5 GB is acceptable, thanks  . Damn, this game makes me go want to play Dune 2 (released by Westwood Studios)
