Hi Drazic,
Is this the indestructible sub with massively powerful deck gun that can fire dozens of rounds per minute mod? What's it called... silent fire?
Apologies for no screenshots, but I'm not at the right PC for that.
To install any mod that is JSGME compatible, you need to follow the instructions in JSGME. It took me a few goes and a bit of head scratching to get it to work, so you're not alone. In your Silent Hunter directory, the directory with the /data directory in it, create a folder called MODS. That's the folder you need to put the zip or rar mod file into. Then unzip the mod - use unzip here, as most most are zipped up to extract to their own directory. This is the things that causes most problems, if you extract to a folder, then you get a folder within a folder and that messes up the way JSGME works. Ideally after the mod has been extracted to the mods folder, it should have a folder called 'data' in it - if it has a folder with the mod's name in it, then somethign went wrong. The JSGME executable should be in the same directory that the MODS and DATA folder are in - usually /program files/ubisoft/silent hunter IV. Running JSGME will give you a lost of all the mods available in the mods folder - the names will be the names of the folders that are in the MODS folder.
It can be hard to get it working the first time, as it does all seem a bit disconnected. What's easiest to work with is something quite small that changes the game in an easily discernable way. I first tried JSGME with greenlamp's HUD mod, as it gives an instant indicator of whether the mod was installed or not.
I'm sure someone else will arrive with a better explanation, with pictures :-).
no problem for the screens (or lack of)
butt anyway with the deck gun cheat alone i'm happy butt the problem is i downloaded several cheats and tryed to install them in the sub library

First you have to makes sure that Killer Sub will work with your version of the game. there were four patches issued, then Silent Hunter 4 U-Boat Missions which constitutes patch 1.5. You have to identify what level you are at. You really should be at 1.4 if you don't have SH4UBM, which is a $10 download giving you a lot of additional game functionality.
Then check out Killer Sub, which may only be good for 1.3. I know it is a very old mod. If not compatible, check out SilentFire mod, which works in 1.5 and maybe 1.4.
Of course I have my subnuclear series. I'm working on a new deck gun because I'm not satisfied with the range adjustment on the Subnuclear Real Deck Gun. I think I'm just going to modify the present deck gun and put that out there too. In addition I have the Subnuclear Mark 14 and soon the Subnuclear Cutie. Actually the Cutie is done but not published. I'm a lazy sort.:dead:
now i'm v1.2 for another cheat (deck guns ) butt that doesn't wotk either:damn:

From the JSGMEHelp
==Using the Generic Mod Enabler==
1. Ensure that you have a clean, unmodded installation of your game, preferably with the latest patch(es) installed. If you are already running a prior version of the Generic Mod Enabler, disable all enabled mods.
2. Install the Generic Mod Enabler to your game's root folder and run once. This will create the appropriate MODS and !BACKUP folders if they do not already exist. At this point you should take a snapshot of your "clean" game files by selecting the "Generate snapshot of game files" option from the "Tasks..." list. This snapshot can be used to verify the integrity of the game files at a later date, after you have installed and uninstalled mods (see "Further notes on usage" for more information).
3. After downloading a mod, unzip it into a sub-folder under the MODS folder (call the sub-folder what you like, but use something that defines what the mod is). Note that the modder may have already set up the mod to be "JSGME compatible", in which case this step and the following step will be done for you. In such instances follow the installation instructions that come with the mod.
4. Ensure that the unzipped files under the new mod sub-folder replicate the game's folder structure. For example, with Silent Hunter III you should see something like:
- SilentHunterIII
+ data
documentation
- MODS
- The Mod Name <created at step 3>
- data
- Menu <etc...>
+ Support
5. Run JSGME.exe and you should see the mod listed as an available mod. Simply select and press the ">" button, or click and drag from Available Mods to Activated Mods and the mod is installed!
That's it! Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each additional mod that you want to install and then simply exit the Generic Mod Enabler and load your (now modded) game as usual.
Having the JSGME program and/or the mod on your desktop won't help, as you see.
It has to be in the game directory. Say you have installed the game to c:\games\sh4 it won't do you any good to install JSGME to c:\games or c:\games\sh4\data and certainly not c:\...\My Documents.
You can always make a desktop link to JSGME.exe file. Just right click on it -> Send To... -> Desktop. (trying to cover all angles here, as you said your computer knowledge is not too great)
no problem for the screens (or lack of)

i'l try it your way

Depending on how you "installed" these cheats, you might profit from deleting the game and reinstall it fresh. Also having the most recent patch, is generally a good idea. Unless you have the "U Boot Mission"-addon, which is v1.5; you should patch to v1.4.
Oh and P.S. Don't worry, there are plenty of cheats in favor and contradiction to realism for v1.4 & v1.5 :|\\
thx a million i made it work
only now the game shuts down after a wile (foul in program)
butt i'l start over the game
thx for the help
