View Full Version : will this processor be speedy enough to run sh4???

I recently bought a new laptop running vista home premium and although its not exactly a gaming rig i was wondering is it has enough oomph to run sh4.

Most of the specs should be ok, 3Gb ddr2 ram and dx10 vid card should be fine (i hope) but im a little concerned about the cpu, i know pretty much nothing about recent intel processors and since the laptop was fairly inexpensive im assuming the cpu is "bottom of the range".
The cpu is an intel core 2 duo T5800 (2x2GHz), Sh4 system requirements state 2GHz is the minimum processor speed which is why im a tiny bit concerned. + being a laptop i cant upgrade the cpu if its too darn slow:down:

So is anyone out there running sh4 on the same/similar cpu or does anyone know if it`ll run at all?



+ I know the back of the box says "laptop chipsets are not supported" in reference to vid cards but it says that on sh3 too and i can run that just fine, so i choose ignore it.

There's a program out there called " Can I Run it " or something like that.

I'm sure someone here knows it.

Yup, i tried that, its called CanYouRunIt from a company called system requirements lab, annoyingly it spent a good couple of mins looking at my pc only to tell me it didnt recognise my hardware configuration:stare:

My Pentium D 3.0GHz can run SH4 just fine, so I assume yours could too

My laptop with a 1.7GHz Dual Core processor could also run SH4, just not too well (I think due to the horrible video card)

Yeah you should be fine with that CPU.

Its more a question of can your video card run it than the cpu.

Furthermore recommend a minimum of 2 gigs of ram. More if your using vista.

Well sh4 came in the mail today, and hooray, i can run it just fine, eye candy and all, the only problem is i cant patch the darn thing, i DLd patch 1.4 but it just wont run, i get an error message saying setup.exe failed to start properly and then windows closes the prog!! I guess im stuck with V1.0 then:cry:

Wait a minute... uhh... what version did you get?

Anyone that orders a 'new' copy and doesent get the 'gold' version is making a mistake. Gold version is up to date version 1.5.. the latest... no need to patch.

If you do indeed have version 1.0 do every thing in your power to get it patched. There are some real 'game stopper' bugs that will aggrivate the hell out of you.

Well its definatly v1.0, i bought it from play.com, they didnt have the gold version.
