:nope:

castration for paedophiles - surefire solution. Not neutering, mind. Castration.

A 5 year, 2 month sentence for molesting a 12 y/o? How can that be?

A 5 year, 2 month sentence for molesting a 12 y/o? How can that be?That is our marvellous justice system, where criminal's rights need to be respected more than the victims.

Castration is too kind a punishment. Things like this remind me why I'm in favor of the death penalty.

Not sure I want to start messing with the chemical/hormonal balance of people who are already mentally ill.

Who's to say that removal of body parts is going to get rid of this desire?
Will it act as a deterrent, when already criminal punishment and feelings like those displayed in this thread do not act as a deterrent?

I like your take on this. Let's just ring our hands and say oh my !

Hell, let it be the next victims problem.

You're right, let's just go with the first thing that occurs to us.

On no account may anyone question the merits of such an obviously brilliant idea.

Time to break out the pitch forks and burning torches!

Rip the sods bollocks off!

Interesting mischaracterisation of what I actually said, though.

I agree. Just kill him and be done with it.

Off with his head. I'm pretty sure removing this body part will keep him from harming any other children.

Will it act as a deterrent
Behead these monsters on the first offense. Damn skippy it would be a deterrent.

There's only one question to ask. What if it was your child he did this to? What would be a fitting punishment then? Would you forgive him? Let him live next door? Invite him over for dinner?

<edit> I'm not attacking you Tchocky. Just saying I have no sympathy for this kind of monster. If someone did this to one of my children, I'd detatch his head with my bare hands.

feed'm to the crocs!

sickest part is that they let him move back right next door to his victim
that's just wrong. I really would try to stir the neighbourhood over this and make his return a living hell. that bastard has to go.:nope:

Haven't a clue what my reaction would be. I'd be lying if I said I knew.
I'm not going to advocate killing people just because I think I would want that, were I in a victim situation.

Thing is, labeling these people as "monsters" isn't really helping much. We still don't understand pedophilia very well.
From Psychology Today
Causes
The causes of pedophilia (and other paraphilias) are not known. There is some evidence that pedophilia may run in families, though it is unclear whether this stems from genetics or learned behavior.
Other factors, such as abnormalities in male sexual hormones or the brain chemical serotonin, have not been proven as factors in the development of paraphilias or pedophilia. A history of childhood sexual abuse is also a potential factor in the development of pedophilias but this, too, has not been proven.
Behavioral learning models suggest that a child who is the victim or observer of inappropriate sexual behaviors learns to imitate and is later reinforced for the behavior. These individuals are deprived of normal social sexual contacts and thus seek gratification through less socially acceptable means. Physiological models focus on the relationship between hormones, behavior, and the central nervous system with a particular interest in the role of aggression and male sexual hormones.

"Monster" isn't in there. I think we should focus on why this is ocurring in the first place, rather than what medieval punishments to exact on people who may be seriosuly mentally ill.

Cognitive behavioural therapy has been shown to work in reducing reoffending rates. Chopping off their bits might help, too. Although the desire expressed on this thread for castration over neutering seems to display a desire for pain for the sake of it.
I wonder if castration is a "surefire" method of preventing reoffending. I know you're advocating execution, which is a different matter entirely.
Frankly, I don't think we should be in the business of killing people when we don't know the reason.

i think yes there's a serious problem with the guy which can approach the girl . A banning for approaching the victim should have been sentenced .
