That's the idea behind wakes. The family and friends hold a vigil to see if the deceased "wakes" up.

Doesn't happen too much in these days of medical technology though and in any case once they inject the embalming fluid that's it...

I've been to a Irish wake. :yep: We had more preservative in us than the stiff in the box. :p :()1:
