Is there a ship that you particularly like to sink? :D Besides the largest one afloat, of course...

For me, it would be Coastal freighter. It's only 1800t and small renown, but there's something in a way she explodes that makes sinking her a pleasure :rotfl:

Pretty much anything historically, though I now find I turn my nose up at anything less that 2,000te: up-scope, have butchers, check out her tonnage, then wander off again. [Imagine my disappointment when intercepting a 'warship' only to find it's an armed trawler!] Pah!

Shame really since I love engaging warships because of the risk element, but have yet to see a battleship and the biggest so far (four times running the war over) is a C Class Destroyer. Pah!

...there's always bigger fish to fry :D

Destroyers, everytime i sink one of them, i feel i take a revenge for all my fellows who were sunk. When the dogs meet the fate of the sheeps they were supposed to protect!:arrgh!:

And among them, heavily armed fleet destroyers like Fletchers or Tribal class, because sinking them can really weaken Royal Navy and US Navy in their war against our surface ships and our japanese allies.

(By the way, hello to everyone, it's my first post! And sorry in advance for my bad english,as i don't come from an english speaking country) ;)

Large merchant, large tanker, Ore Carrier, whale factory ship, These are the ships I target in a convoy. They usually go down with 1 hit.

The AMCs and heavy cruisers are pretty sweet too when in convoy, only they are quite rare late in the war.

Black Swan class. Keep running into them around the Eastern ports of Britain in my current campaign. Name sounds cool and since its early 1940 in the campaign it's a bit scarier then the average V&W.

Just got pinged by sonar for the first time by one in a Brit port. He was wounded in the front from a torp while coming straight at me. Shouldn't have been loading torpedos that close to a decent port. :know:

He eventually went past me wounded as I crept along. I fired off an aft shot at 700m. Boom! He stopped and his nose plunged, evened out for a bit, then the tail raised and my crew shouted.

Was a good feeling. Then I sighted a Granville type freighter in front of me, lined up magnetic shots to go off at .5m under the boat and fired two torpedos. Both torpedos launched but the event cameras went away quick. Couldn't see trails in external.... Maybe I used electric was my first thought. I looked under water and my bow was probably two feet away from a GWX mine net. :timeout:

I just backed it up slow and called it even. Long post but fellow mine haters might enjoy.

I have to say battleships first, and a close second would be large tankers. I often risk my boat to get at them, launch every viable torpedo, then crash dive in a erratic patterns to avoid the inevitable depth charge response.

Large Merchants. And easy 10k for the logs, but if I ever spot a whale factory,...I swear I'll put every torpedo I have into it.

Edit. Whaling is just wrong, so I'd single a whale factory ship out even if a better target were to present itself.

Also, I've just come across the single ship I wish I had not. RMS Titanic (VonDos's). Some 46k tonnes...And I cannot fire on her.

After my most recent patrol, a 40 day cruise with only 8k tonnage sunk? Yea, if I wasn't still the most successful skipper of the early war, I'd send myself there.

40 days, 27 of which were pure hurricane. Spotted a convoy that had either the HMS Nelson or her sister Rodney protecting it. 315 meters, and unable to shoot...Oh I was angry as I shadowed the convoy into Liverpool.

Oh yes. Normally after 5 full days of storm, I'd head for port, but sighting a battleship? In open water? Oi!:/\\!! I had hoped the storm would break as we entered the Irish Sea. Nope. Kinda just sat around then as a weather broadcaster.

One day, Rodney! One day!

Any Allied ship is a good target. Never pass up one that aides in the Allies supply. Besides, you could sneak around all over their shipping lanes and wait forever for the "right target". All Allied ships sunk count towards the main goal of all Uboats... "Sink em all".

And read the top line in my sig...... :D
