It looks amazing! OFF has nothing on this! Its like a WW1 version of IL-2 but there are certian thing that IL-2 doesn't come close too.

Any update when this will be released ?

If you look at the recomended specs to run it, most people here won't be able to play it on their rigs.:-? :hmm:

I'd say they'll tweak it before release. RoF isn't that good looking that you need a 512 MB card. Mine is only 256, and it runs games like Crysis fairly well on medium settings.

I will:D I'm building a quad core Q6600 with DDR3 memory and Nvidia 9800GTX. OS will be Vista 64:D This game was what I had in mind when making my decision on the build. Only issue, 64 is not guaranteed by developer.

And has issues with many older programs and games.

Thats the thing Dowly, I rarely play my older games. In fact, most I do not have anymore. I play them until I'm absolutely tired of them and then dump my interest into a new game. Such as IL2, I played that for over 3 years. My interest is over. SH3, played that for years. FPS games, after playing the game in single player it is just about done. I can play it at super hard or have a online frag-fest but that only goes so far with me. Simulations such as ROF, SH4, IL2 are great because these games are usually evolving all the time and have the ability to keep my interest as a result of modding or the game allows campaigns to be created, etc. This is why I'm looking forward to newer games with the same old themes we have been acustom to playing. Now though, games will be different with the new found power of CPU's, etc. Such as ROF that recommends the 9800 card or better. It will just be like the growing pains with XP many years ago. Such is life in the big city. No reason I can not create a dual boot of XP and Vista!

One of the few releases I'm really looking forward to. I want this. Q1-Q2 2009 depending on the publisher I hear. Sounds like they might have the game itself about ready.

Not a painting, it's an actual screenshot. Anyone here familiar with the artist Mark Miller's work? He uses computer models to create his stuff, and ROF's look reminded me and still looks a lot like his art.

I know, right?

Just look at the attention to detail and realistic rendering. Apparently, it's not going to be too demanding, either. My computer could run it on very high settings.

And that is probably the best news I've seen all day. I just got a new box a month ago, but it's decidedly mid-upper range by today's standards and I was worrying ROF would be another LOMAC/FSX upon its release. Thanks for posting that SH, I can't wait for this one.

Didn't they say there that you'd need a 8600 card at least?:o

A min requirement of the last generation of budget gaming cards is not too much to ask for.

There's alot of people struggleing to play SH4 here with alot lower requirements.

In this economy I don't see selling a high priced sim and also makeing the purchaser upgrade their rig too.

Going by the posts I read hear at SubSim alot of rigs are...

3.0 single core , AGP vid card and 2 gb of ram. or there abouts.

They may have the money to buy the sim but, not the computer upgrade too.

Just something to think about. :hmmm:

Yeah. What's so bad about that? The requirements for all video games are going up. You're going to have to upgrade eventually.

SH is right. New games are utilizing the new found power of multiple cores and using up to 8 gig of RAM with 64 bit. I was fortunate that I could strike while the pan was hot and get a nice rig with bells and whistles attached. As far as the cost of this game, if it is done right as it looks like it is I will pay the price. A decent WW1 flight sim is a long time coming. I enjoyed the WW2 sims (Janes WW2, B-17, CFS1/2, IL2 and dabbled in Lock-on). Time to dabble in the open cockpit with my scarf:D

Hello,

another one, online flight with 2 D.Vs (a?) or so i think:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQN0hvcUpz4&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQN0hvcUpz4&feature=related)
Unbelievable - i feared all the time that "ROF" would go down like its predecessor "Knights of the Sky", but it seems it will make it - if not this year any more.

But there's also a new project called OOF ("Over Oleg's Front"), based on IL2, no joke lol

All to be found here:

So?

You can get an 8600GT for 50 USD

If you are spending this much for a Sim. You can afford even that much of an upgrade.

Hello,
there is one thing that irritates me - seems you have to be online (log on to their server) even if you want to play ROF in single play ??!! Come on, that can't be true ?
Connect to their server for single play ???? :stare:

Might be, but quite a few games today have some sort of login thing going on. Most of it is just to collect statistics, information, and to allow the players to keep their own profile with achievements and such in it (kind of like Battlefield 2's system).

Hello,

i would not mind to go online for registering, or activation one time after installing, or to check for updates now and then. Even if that implies that you will not be able to play the game after the company has gone, overtook by someone else or withdraws its website.

But it seems you have to log on everytime you play single.
Just hope it is not true .. Gawd, i'd never thought i'd vote for Starforce, but this ... well we will see.

Greetings,
Catfish
